I started this thread after 3 batters.
HBP, balls all over the place, line drives and a moonshot home run.
As soon as I hit submit, he got his first out.
Reverse Jinx, baby.

I joined the Hangout circa 2001 and I guarantee there was a 12-page thread that very day about how stupid the O's were for not picking up Brian Simmons after the Jays waived him, because any dullard could see he was way was better than Gene Kingsale.
Brian Simmons could have changed the course of Orioles History!
But, nooooooo......we just HAD to keep Kingsale....

I like the DFA threads.
It breaks the monotony around here. If you don’t like them, don’t reply.
It is very relevant because of our waiver claim position and rebuild status.

Preach. There should be one DFA thread that gets bumped. That way any time some other team cuts bait with someone that thread can get bumped and whoever thinks we should/could be interested in whatever castoff can go there so they can be shot down.
No on Kemp and no on whoever else gets DFA'd.
NO NEW PLAYERS. Moose likes Our Guys.

This might be the greatest gif in history.
Just look how the hitter goes from the hitting position all the way to looking into the dugout in disbelief.
Awesome

If you all want, please go to the original thread and post your best Jack Zoellner story. We're interested in hearing all the good times, bad times, Jack Zoellner trivia, any JZ memorabilia purchases. Whatever we can do to appreciate the man.
His dad Fuzzy is still more popular

24 years old Rushed and uprooted....

Smith must of read this thread the other day.
Smith must be having a huge sigh of relief rn. He needs to stay on the baseball a while no matter where he goes.

I would think it plausible that he was this bad in 2019. It's the 2018 season that was unbelievable.
And who in the hell knows what lies ahead......

Yeah, but I doubt many fans who cared thought Davis was worth that much for that many years. Most fans don't think about contract disaster when it comes to sport. But unless my memory is wrong I believe there were plenty of voices on this board that bemoaned the Davis deal when it was announced.
I think even in hindsight very few (if any) ever thought it would turn out that bad.
There are plenty of threads on how bad that contract is, though, so no need to rehash it here.
It would be nice if we could ever recoup ANY of the remaining value on that deal, but I don’t know how that realistically ever happens.
Getting something at all from the Trumbo or Cobb contracts is the best we can hope for, I guess....

Wow , “most” is more than I was expecting. I guess that is good news. Bet the insurance company loves that.

For 3 contracts of Davis, Cobb, and Trumbo.

My question is - Are the Orioles on the hook for all of this themselves? Is there some insurance that kicks in at all for these guys?
What a heartbreaking situation. It’s actually mind boggling at this point.

Whatever. It is Orioles talk to me.

I'm sure pretty much everyone wants to get more accurate. I haven't heard anyone going well, it's good enough, let's stop and have a beer.
I AM SAYING EXACTLY THIS. Time for a beer.

Shouldn't this be moved to the minors section?
Eh what’s the harm in keeping it here? He is the Orioles at this point.

Accidentally went to the last page. Found this gem.
Ahhh Bedard. What ever happened to him?

In the middle of a 40 HR season, there was a thread to DFA him. Haha.
And he has no trade value. SMDH

Right. My assumption is they're bootstrapping some of this stuff to look for potential. They know they're in low probability spaces already, so instead of using scouting eyes, they're just identifying guys that would otherwise not get a look. My absolute guess is that this Welk guy stands out considerably from his peers in Division III.
So far so good. Sig seems excited, which is always fun.

A solid outing today in Rutchman’s catching debut. 1 er 9 strikeouts.
Orioles Win

LOL and my boy Jake Prizina is pitching a gem to him
Thoughts about David Hess in 2019?

I think he gives up too many big home runs. Looks like MLB Straily right now.
Good for a tanking team.
