Seeing that the Orioles haven't traded with the Nationals......ever..... It does make you assume that there is a trade barrier in place there, despite claims by both sides that no such barrier is present. Which is a shame because we could package Givens and Fry and give them exactly what they are looking for while we could get one of their better prospects in return.

  2. Instead of creating a new one for every player, thought this would help consolidate our DFA pick-up options

    Angels just DFA'd Adam Mcreery

26 years old Lefty bullpen arm with higher strikeout numbers but control issues.

Lefty arms are tougher to come by, I think he's worth taking a flyer on, especially if we plan on trading givens, fry, etc.

  3. I think Dillon must check off a lot of boxes when it comes to analytics. It's the only explanation I can come up with for him jumping to the MLB after at most half a season as a AA reliever. I know he's got some talent to him but I think Sig and the analytics department think he can be a real piece in the bullpen and is somewhat ready now.

  4. I really want one of Atlanta's 21 year old pitchers. I don't care what it takes. It's already looking like our pitching staff might be the thing that carry's us into our next playoff run. If we could add another 21 year old stud pitcher to go along with Gray Rod and DHall with the Bowie Boys filling in and the potential of a starter coming from next draft 1st round. We'd really be rolling.

  5. I'm honestly very surprised we haven't heard more rumors of severino being dealt. There has to be a team out there (I'm too lazy to look) that is making a push for the playoffs, has a weak link at catcher, and would prefer something more than a rental.

I understand he's not dominating right now but he's been kinda hot recently and has some defensive value too.

I guess that intentionally putting myself into a weaker position for negotiations is just against my nature.  I would prefer to stress the value to the team I'm trading him to.  It just seems to me that it is just poor business to do otherwise.

I think you're already seeing this with the "reports" that orioles are likely to hold onto Mancini

  7. Another question, do you think Elias would trade mancini and givens for just one top prospect who is in AA or AAA? Kinda feels like he is targeting a strength in numbers approach.

Would he be more inclined to go after three low-A lottery tickets or one AA/AAA top prospect?

Add this kid to the list

James Rolle - 1B - BIG Lefty from the Bahamas, 17 years old. Batting .417 (5 games). 6ft 240 lbs.

    Found this article

I came here to highlight this guy, yes he's only playing first, but he is making consistent contact.  He will need to jump on the HR train if he want's to amount to anything but I won't be suprised to se him get a shot with GCL to see what he can do.

  9. I think some of us were a little surprised when Elias drafted so many catchers in the 2019 draft. I'm not sure if it was a glaring weakness he identified in the minor league system, if there is a strategy of getting good quality catchers throughout your system to help your pitchers develop, or if it was just a great catcher position draft?

But regardless, we now have some catchers who are performing better than expected:

    Christopher Burgess 22,  .368/.538/.579

    Harris Yett 23,                   .326/.375/.465

    Jordan Cannon 22,          .267/.343/.467

add these guys in with AR and Maverick and Catcher kinda looks like a strength through our minor league system

You're not going to sniff either of Gavin Lux or Dustin May and probably not Keibert Ruiz or Will Smith but I could see someone like Tony Gonsolin/Jeter Downs/Josiah Gray leading a package.

I'd take Josiah Gray in a heart beat. He'd slot right in ETA after the group of BOWIE guys but before GRAYROD and DHALL

There's a space on the 40 for Keegin Akin. He could go several innings for the Birds in his debut.

He's scheduled to pitch tonight. You could scratch him tonight and try to get him out to the west coast to go tomorrow possibly but I don't think it works out the best.

  12. Cristian with another two innings of scoreless relief last night. 2 BB's and 2 K's

I'm hoping he gets the bump to Norfolk here soon, get some experience with the major baseball and an ever better opportunity to evaluate him for the 40 man protection.
