  1. He may or may not be, but he's at worst our 2nd best hitter. Having a down year for sure, but definitely our most proven offensive weapon. 1 game out dude. 1 freakin game and we traded him.
  2. Maybe he doesn't have as much confidence in Chirinos. A finesse pitcher needs to have confidence that his catcher can get the close calls.
  3. LMAO. Can't argue with that point.
  4. Well we traded our best hitter who has now caught fire on his new team. And did this while in intense competition for a playoff spot. Only we would do that. Hey guys we are 1 game out. Ok, let's trade our best hitter.
  5. Spenser Watkins is a finesse pitcher. He doesn't have the world's most electric stuff. He's a nibbler. He is the type of pitcher who relies on an elite defensive catcher to frame pitches and call a game. If you're a guy like Felix Bautista having the world's best catcher doesn't mean that much. Just aim for the plate and blow em away. I know it's a day game and we don't want to burn him out. But part of me wonders how that meltdown inning would have went if Adley was behind the plate.
  6. Man I don't care if you put Jesus at Shortstop. I cannot accept .266OBP
  7. Thing about Mateo is he's an athlete. Not really a ballplayer. A .266OBP from an everyday player. I refuse to accept that. I just cannot accept that in my lineup every day. I cannot do it.
  8. I hate stolen base attempts. I like fat guys who get on base.
  9. Probably the most frustrating inning of the year for me. Nobody really made any bad plays or bad pitches. It's just that nobody could make any great pitches or great plays. We needed an MLB play. Didn't get it.
  10. I am having so much fun following the O's right now. We are kicking so much ass!!!
  11. It's just the beginning. Look at this team dude. We are loaded with talent right now.
  12. Same. I am having so much fun watching the Orioles. I cannot watch all the games, usually catch a few innings of night games because I have to go to sleep since I work 1st shift. But I watch all the day games. I can't stop thinking about the O's now.
  13. I'm happy. I like the team. I love our fans. I hate the Yankees. I want to gather with other people who love the Orioles. We are winning. We are starting to kick ass.
  14. Because I've been here for a few months and he's an unbelievably detached and passive aggressive poster. He seems so completely miserable. Always.
  15. Who is this guy? Why is he always being a killjoy? Dude needs to get a beer and an attractive woman. Settle down and take that stick out of his ass for a bit.
  16. No one is claiming the O's have the biggest volume of fans. We have the best and most passionate fanbase. If you can't see it then you are blinder than a man with no eyes.
  17. In my heart I believe this to be true. As soon as the O's even approach .500 the entire area erupts. Arbutus, Dundalk, Canton, Fells Point, Federal Hill, South Baltimore, etc. It just goes bonkers with O's love. Our active 26 man payroll is only $26 million which is less than dozens of MLB players are making this year. Even after multiple 110 loss seasons and being pretty much one of the worst teams in league history for about 5 years we are still the most passionate fanbase. Maybe that is why we are so passionate. Because we are not spoiled. We don't have a great owner. We are a small market team and "small" large city. We can't just go and buy the best players. And yet even though the Rays and Blue Jays have had more success than us recently, they have little to no fanbase. No passion for the team. Sure, the Dodgers, Yankees, Astros, Cubs, White Sox, Mets, Phillies, Red Sox have a lot of fans, but it's a volume fandom. Not a passionate homegrown local fandom in the same way. The sheer size of their metro areas ensures they have the most volume of fans. Plus it's full of payroll bandwagoners. We can't just go out and buy the best free agents like they can. Hell, we can't even keep our best homegrown talent like we saw with Manny. I work 1st shift, so keep that in mind when reading this anecdote, I'm not a total degenerate lol. The day Mancini hit that inside the park home run I went to the swimming pool in Riverside Park and then went to the bar afterwards for a Quesadilla and a drink. And the O's were on TV playing a day game! Even better. Jesus Christ, this little tiny bar was packed on a workday afternoon with Os fans coming in and out to watch the game. Everybody was glued to the TV. When Mancini popped up and circled all 4 bases it was a magical moment that I will never forget. Everybody lost their minds. I love being an Os fan!
  18. He is relevant. Hes getting paid millions by the team. He didnt care. That's so unacceptable. Hes a professional ball player and he acted like he was in a beer league.
  19. I have my reasons. Part of it was he was historically bad after signing the huge deal. So the lack of production was annoying. My main gripe was that he just didnt care enough to put in the effort. He had no financial incentive to put in the work to remain a good hitter. He just sat on his butt and simply decided he was done working on his hitting. Being an MLB caliber hitter requires you to put in the work. And he just didnt do it. He quit on the team. He quit on himself. He brought shame to the organization. If he has actually tried and put in the work, but just couldn't hit anymore I'd be less irritated. Now we have to pay him. Nah. That's not how I roll.
  20. I do not like WAR that is propped up by defensive metrics. Mateo is worth 10 runs saved in fielding in 105 games when hes never put up defense numbers like that before in his career. At this rate he will be over 15 runs saved for the season. That isnt sustainable unless you're Simmons or Smith or somebody like that. His is a below average hitter and hitting is the primary method 99% of non catchers add value to their team.
  21. I'm a new member here. I just joined a few months ago. I had no idea this place was so censored. There wasnt even anything that provocative. I dont know who is responsible for the censoring here, but whoever that man is must have his tightey whiteys on tighter than what was thought to be humanly possible. Let yourself breathe fella.
  22. I love the Orioles and this 2022 team. Underdogs with the lowest payroll in the league. And now we are closing in on a playoff spot. Edited for inappropriate language. This is family oriented.
  23. The expansion of the playoffs has really help smaller market and small payroll teams. Back when there were 2, 4 or even 8 playoff teams the advantage went to the big market teams. It's very difficult to win 100 games (which is what it often takes to win the pennant) being a small market team. Now you have teams who win 88 games and they get a chance in the postseason.
