  1. The velocity has improved, up to 95 now. They still only want to use him in short stints. Sweeper/slider is his goto pitch. His change can be ok at times against lefties.
  2. Finally saw Baumler and the fastball was in the 91-92 range and gets hit. Curve is his best pitch, but the velocity will need to tick back up. If I didn't know who he was, I would have NP'd him.
  3. He's still on a 3 rWAR season pace despite being in one of his cold spells.
  4. Definitely had his "A stuff" last night. 30% whiff rate and soft contact. The best news was only two walks. Hopefully he can put a few good outings together in a row.
  5. It's to say since I don't have extension numbers for the minors, but due to his size and the way he kinda flings the ball up there I'm guessing it's above the 6-2 average.
  6. Think of him as Cionel Perez but with a changeup. Oh, and he's much taller so that fastball can play up even more than Cionel's at times.
  7. He gave up a couple seeing eye singles, but also allowed the first home run of his professional career, a two-run shot. Then went back to striking guys out and getting ground balls. Hit 96 MPH and had a real nice change going at time. He was taken out after 67 pitches (70 seems like the Low-A pitch count so far), striking out 10 and left a runner on 1st that didn't score. I'd really like to see them extend his pitch count some and challenge him against High-A ball hitters.
  8. Well it is his second truly poor throw. He's going to have to work on that or 3rd base coaches are going to run on him a lot. He's got the arm strength, now he just needs to work on accuracy. Accuracy can improve over time.
  9. Mateo has always seemed like one of those guys that is easy to root for. Now that's he's settled into his utility role, he has a nice long career ahead of him.
  10. Mateo played well both offensively and defensively in this series. He's a nice utility guy. Now if we could get Mayo at 3B, move Westburg to 2B we'd really be in for a show.
  11. Well count me as very satisfied! Great series and he bullpen really put it together after struggling with the A's. Baseball is a funny game.
  12. He absolutely could use one. Cowser too. I think we may see McKenna get a start this weekend in LF.
  13. Cowser wouldn't be able to hit right now if you gave him the wood version of one of those little kid fat red bats.
