I wonder what he could crank that velocity up to in a relief role. I hope he has success as a starter but I also like the thought of him in the bullpen.
Without an injury what is the realistic approach to getting Hays back on track without optioning him? I am not saying option him today but I also don't think it is as crazy of an idea as people in this thread are making it out to be. He is buried behind guys who are producing right now, how does Hyde justify giving him the at bats he needs to work his way out of the funk? If the approach in the message is right I think Hays as a pro ball player should be able to handle hearing that he is going down to AAA to get the at bats he needs to get his swing back.
