  1. I wasn't real impressed with their lineup before the series and I'm not real impressed afterwards. Soto and Judge are very good (I'm pretty confident Judge will get it going). The rest are either washed up or middling young guys. The pitching staff and BP in particular are very good. Their defense was a mess this series but could just be a fluke. I think the O's are better top to bottom but the Yankees pitching is very good and they'll make a good run at it just because of that.
  2. Did you read that somewhere or just speculating?
  3. Not trying to make excuses for them but I do think it will be interesting to see how this group in particular performs as the weather heats up. It had been a pretty chilly spring weather-wise and I'm thinking most of these guys had never been north of Florida. Baseball in the cold takes some getting used to.
  4. Combination of all of the above probably. And also, it's only a few games, so not going to say he's fully out of it yet. Just the ebbs and flows of baseball as far as I'm concerned, but I'm guessing the injury probably didn't help.
  5. How late you staying at the office ? Work life balance!
  6. Webb. Great performance, then shows us why relief pitchers rarely do post game interviews haha.
  7. Nevermind, I just looked it up myself and my recollection was correct, the 3 batter rule does not apply if the reliever finished the previous inning. Kind of surprised that both Arnold and Brown got that wrong.
  8. BTW I've been looking for somewhere to ask this lately regarding the "3 batter minimum" rule. Both Geoff Arnold and Kevin Brown recently mentioned that an Orioles reliever needed to face 1 or 2 more hitters to start an inning after that reliever had closed the previous inning. It was my understanding that that rule only applied within the same inning - that is, if a reliever only faces one batter but that ends the inning, then he can be replaced. Is that not correct?
  9. Yes, I would let him walk unless he for some reason gave the club a significant discount which I think there is zero chance of. I'm not a huge fan of armchair GM-ing. Especially with the ownership change, not knowing how that will affect payroll, extensions, etc. It's Elias' job to figure out how to fill the spots and so far he's done pretty well at it.
  10. Yeah, I can't imagine any scenario in which what he ends up signing for is what I'd be willing to pay him. Enjoy the season from him and move on.
  11. The time isn't coming, the time is here. As sportsfan mentioned, this is a good team whether fans want to admit it or not. But 30 of mostly terrible baseball does a number to a fan base.
  12. Yeah, not a ton of misses, but the misses he did have were pretty bad.
  13. I didn't get to see the 9th, was listening on the radio, but there appeared to several very generous calls in the 8th. Urias struck out on a ball that looked well inside and low. Kevin Brown made some sort of comment about the ump having a flight to catch I believe.
  14. I don't complain about umps much and I'd be interested to see what the scorecard says, but if the box on the screen was at all accurate (and I'm not convinced it is) then the ump was really struggling at the end of that game.
