I’m trying not to start a new thread every time a pitching prospect has a good outing, so I’ll use this one to say that Nestor German has got my attention. 4 shutout innings with 8 K’s for last year’s 11th rounder. On the year, a 1.31 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, 11.3 K:9, 3.1 K/BB.

Adley with his fifth dinger and a 3 for 4 night tonight. He didn’t homer in the first 12 games, so that’s 5 in the last 20. 4 of the 5 from the right side of the plate.

Another big game for Mateo. The play where he ran down the throw that got past Mountcastle, whirled and threw a one hop strike to Gunnar to cut down Jonathan India was unbelievable. In fact, it was quite clear that India couldn’t believe it. And, of course, the homer, and another hit. He’s been a real asset this year.

What a ballsy performance by Cano tonight. Came in with runners on first and third and only one out, sitting on a one-run lead. Overcame a missed strike three call to the first batter he faced, then got the next two one a strike out and routine pop fly to LF. He’s got ice water in his veins.

I pretty much hate hypothetical trade threads. Doesn’t mean people shouldn’t post them, or that they need their own forum. I just don’t read them, or I get in and out quickly. No problem.

Jones hasn’t been retired 3 years. He played in Japan through 2021, and didn’t announce his retirement until the end of last season.

Well, the Kentucky Derby will be run in a few minutes, so there’s that. -
There’s a 100% chance some people would boo him. Others would take the high road. But it’s a reason why he may not be inducted that quickly.

Personally I wouldn’t call either one a soft tosser. Abbott averages 93, Lodolo 94. Each has given us trouble in their one past start against us.

When the player retired is a factor. It’s not purely an issue of merit.

Bump…the O’s currently have an .824 OPS against LHP, 2nd best in MLB. I guess all that handwringing in the first 7-10 days of the season was premature BS. Gee, who would have guessed? The O’s face tough lefties the next two days. Maybe they’ll struggle in these games. But hitting lefties isn’t and hasn’t been a problem for the O’s the last two years.
