  3. I'm looking forward to watching him next year. His command is something we'll need to see improve next year but nice to hear Ramsey excited about him.
  4. While having success at higher levels or the minor leagues or even in a taste of the big league is part of the evaluation process and lessens the risk profile of players, it is not the only criteria for placement on the list above another prospect. If you concerned over him being behind Kevin Smith, I'll tell you, I could have easily built a case for either to be above the other. They are very similar prospects as their scouting grades would show you. Smith gets the slight nod for being at more advance stage when he was 22 than Zimmermann was and for the the better slider command that gives him a better chance at his floor.
  5. He's really an unknown because of the bat improvements he showed early on the year are for real, he's a steal as a 3rd round pick.
  6. That was probably more of a mistake than anything. If you go into his profile, I gave him a "Most Likely Future Role: Backup corner outfielder." That would make him a FV45 so I just made sure it matched. I have no information on what he did this year to change his evaluation once way or the other.
  7. Haha, I go to "great lengths" to have no consistent approach from one poll to the other when it comes to the actual prospects being on the list one or many times. The only consistency is I place the first name alphabetically. Nice try though.

  10. You're welcome! Thanks for stopping by.
  11. That's a good way to look at it honestly. Stowers is certainly a projection guy with a decent ceiling, but he has a high risk profile on whether he can get there or not.
  12. Here's the thing, he was using his college swing so I'm not going to bury him after some bad initial results. He has some tools to work from so there is some upside with him still. The lost season sucked for everyone, but particularly for a guy that needed some reworking on his swing and was already going to play at 22 this past year. I really don't have a great read on him so honestly, he could be higher, lower or just right. Basically at this point on the list if he can use his tools and end up a left-handed hitting power hitting leftfielder I'll take that because of the upside.
  13. I went to Bluefield a few times back in the early 2000s, once by myself and once I took the family along because of how beautiful it was there. It really is ashamed area is going to lose affiliated baseball, but it would make a pretty damn nice summer college league.

  16. Not to rub salt into this wound, but Kris Bubic was selected three picks later by the Royals and given 200K less. Not one of Rajisch's best decision.
  17. Right, which is why I'm not making any conclusions or being too concerned ..yet.
  18. There are certainly worrisome signs but until I see what happens to players like Iglesias I'm going to withhold judgement. Every other team is in the same situation besides the MASN thing.
  19. Szymborski is right on point. This is the kind of reporting that would have gotten people fired in the past. Lazy reporting while looking to make a name by "breaking" a scandal that is not there.
  20. If they don't we will need to have a whole other conversation about this franchise.
  21. I don't think we really disagree all that much. I'd like to just add that just because I'm pointing out that his player acquisitions so far have been less than successful does not mean it will always be that way. It's not like taking chances on guys like Ruiz or Wojo wasn't worth a shot considering the internal alternatives, it's just that his process has yet to yield any real fruit. For all of Duquette's down points, he did find Santander in a Rule 5 draft and Nunez on waivers even towards the end of his reign. I'd just like to see Elias and crew find a diamond in the rough and polish it into a jewel with their process, scouting and coaching.
  22. Honestly, I was in the same boat. I went to go read any updates and then found it was gone so I reopened it. Now we have the rest of the story and not surprisingly, it was all a bunch of crap.
