I was surprised to see Jackson Holliday pinch running today - I thought he was sent to minor league camp as of the 14th?

Baltimore/Orioles related shows or Podcasts?
Goober Noodles replied to CaptDbog's topic in Orioles Talk
I listen to Locked on Orioles daily during my commute. The Verge is great as well - with the amount of talent in the O's system and these podcasts, I've never felt more informed. Apple Carplay is really nice when it comes to listening during commutes, I have to say. The MASN All Access podcast is solid as well. -
This isn’t totally on subject, but I thought it was a cool story, so this seems like as a good of place as any to put this. Through a mutual friend, the former owner (let’s call him “Bob”) of the company I work for got paired up with Jim Crane for a golf tournament last year. Through the three-day tournament, they became pretty good friends, and it subsequently led to tours of Astros facilities and dinners, etc. One of those dinners was at Minute Maid Park on 8/1/22. Jim told Bob’s son that he wanted his opinion on something. He said that the Astros could trade for the catcher from the White Sox to increase their world series chances by 2.2% or he could trade for the catcher from the Red Sox for a 1.9% increase their chances. He also noted that Dusty Baker had informed him that the White Sox player (Grandal?) was not a good clubhouse guy. When asked, Bob’s son paused for a moment, and said “easy, you go with the better clubhouse guy”. Jim said something to the effect of “that’s what I’m saying!”, called up James Click (GM) and told him to make the trade. Because the Astros were playing the Red Sox and the game hadn’t yet started, Christian Vasquez then came up and introduced himself to everyone, and went down to the Astros clubhouse. To backtrack a bit - apparently Bob had a negative interaction with Jose Altuve at some point prior to befriending Jim Crane. Bob talked trash about the cheating scandal after a strikeout at a Mariners game either earlier in the year or in 2021, to which Altuve responded by spitting his gum at Bob. The gum stuck to his shirt, and Bob responded by taking the gum and chewing it, which made the Altuve and others in the stro's dugout burst out in laughter. Fast forward to the day when Jim Crane gave Bob and his son a tour of the clubhouse prior to dinner. Altuve recognized Bob, and Jim Crane forced him to shake his hand. Haha

Orioles five year lease extension expires today.
Goober Noodles replied to Going Underground's topic in Orioles Talk
Having just gone through my company getting acquired and being quite involved in gathering info on financial commitments, I agree. I'm not in finance or accounting, so I'm not entirely clear on why, but it was very evident to me that open financial commitments such as leases aren't desirable to potential buyers. -
Cringe. I honestly do not get all of the criticism of Elias when more than likely he's hamstrung by limitations put on him by ownership. I'm no accountant, but having just been through a corporate acquisition, I know that eliminating long term financial commitments is a huge priority during a potential sale. We're also talking about the Angelos family here. You don't know what you don't know.

This is hilarious - he better not delete those old tweets. Dominance established.
