  1. Seeing it loom over the left fielder in the close ups now is just....bizarre. Definitely makes it feel less intimate (at least on tv).
  2. Maybe, maybe not, but if you had showed me the two designs side by side back then, the old one would win out all day long.
  3. Not trying to be hyperbolic, but I will say that seeing it on tv right now for me is....jarring. Unpleasantly so.
  4. That's awesome, I miss Elrod. It's still a great park, but this feels less great to me. I know others disagree, which is fine.
  5. I haven't seen any reason to believe that Elias cared.
  6. Agreed. I'm sure Elias doesn't want to be pinned down (or held accountable) to a particular timetable, but the complete neglect of the fan base throughout this process is really inexcusable. It's hard to figure out how much of that is him and how much of that is ownership (see the MASN travel debacle). I would quibble a bit with whether or not it was necessary for the ML team to be this horrid for "many" years. It seems to me like more effort could have been put into making the team watchable after the first couple of years without interfering with the rebuild. I would also argue that Elias' seat should start getting pretty warm if the team continues to look hopelessly outclassed going into next year. Assuming ownership cares.
  7. I'm assuming that Hyde isn't being judged on wins and losses to this point, given that his bosses have been actively disinterested in winning major league games since they came on board. If Elias keeps punting on the season, what's Hyde supposed to do? It seems difficult to me to come up with any strong takeaways on Hyde's performance under the circumstances, or to work out an opinion on how he might do when they actually want him to win games. He might be great, might be terrible, probably somewhere in between? Who knows? I do agree that it would be very interesting to know how much input he has been allowed into the roster, or how comfortable he's been with the ongoing tanking. It's not exactly helping him build much of a resume for another job.
  8. Remember when Elias thought the hitting would be good? Good times.
  9. Or at least the 3-4 months until he's traded to a contender.
  10. Seems to be trying to soften his call out of the pitchers a bit.
  11. Not really so far. Said he thinks this is the best group of catchers he's had in camp so far.
  12. In my case, I had the intro, they went to commercial break, then it came back late.
  13. The dude would probably have fallen asleep after the three beers and never submitted his proposal at all, which would have worked for me.
  14. Anyone else watching on mlb.tv and miss the first two batters because of a commercial? Not sure if that's a MASN screw up or an mlb.tv screw up.
  15. I imagine other teams are generally smart enough to work out if Means is getting a boost from the park that he wouldn't get elsewhere.
  16. He hasn't been interested in having actual ML pitchers up to this point.
  17. I retain serious doubts that it will make much difference in that regard. I suspect that free agent pitchers will go where the money is. If that's us, then that's us. If it's not, then I don't see anyone giving us a park discount.
  18. About the same thing as complaining about free agent signings does for me, I guess.
  19. This board has a surprisingly (to me) positive view of this change. I guess I'm just going to have to agree to disagree and gnash my teeth about it elsewhere. I still think it looks terrible.
  20. 2018 to now has seemed interminable to me. Knowing each year that they're going to lose 100+ games and then watching them proceed to do so in a completely hapless, unenjoyable manner has been mind-numbing in a way that watching them from 98-2011 never was, as frustrating as those years inevitably became.
  21. I don't see how this pitching staff avoids 100 losses again, not in this division. Especially once Elias trades away more guys. And they still have the worst lineup in the division, for now. I don't see the big league team being watchable until maybe this summer, if the prospect promotions actually happen.
  22. If Fry is effective, then I doubt he'll be long for this team.
  23. I'm with you. I see no reason to be optimistic that money will be spent by the Angelos family.
