  2. Great contributions at the MLB level from  top prospects this year....Adley, Gunner of course, but Stowers, Vavra playing big roles.  But look what is still on the way....and soon!

Great seasons from Westburg, Norby, Ortiz, Cowser, who all finish the season at AAA with OPS > .800 on the season.  Then we have Coby Mayo and Hunter Haskin at Bowie.  Krjstad wasn't great at Aberdeen, but his slash line for the season was still .309/394/457/851 on the year.   That's at least 7 very high end hitting prospects before you even get into the great debuts from several of the 2022 class.

Honestly I know people want to go for it in 2023, but I don't think we need to spend big money on free agent bats.   Much rather invest any increased salary $$ in pitching

  3. I think the big question that need too be answered is how much do the Orioles believe in Mateo.  If they see him as the answer for the next 2-3 years at least, I see them including Westburg in a trade for a TOR pitcher.  2nd base gets filled by Vavra or Norby, or Urias next year.  Then Mateo in place until Holliday is ready.

  4. I suspect we will start trading guys this winter who are nearing the majors without a spot, which could un-clog some of the positions.

I think Westburg is a prime trade candidate.   Cowser may be as well, unless we trade Hays or Santander.  Likely for pitching, but I could see us trading Hays and Santander then looking to find a MOO bat as a corner OF or DH.

  5. During the 3/4 day all-star break when no MLB games were being played, perhaps baseball fans would give some attention to the minor league games.  But no, there are no minor league games this week either.

I can understand not playing on Tuesday during the actual AS game, but why no games on Wed or Thurs?  Would have loved to watch a game or at least have some box scores to check.

I honestly don't think he needs more time. If I had my druthers, I'd have an infield with Henderson, Westburg, Urias and Mountcastle.

Vavra would play 2B, OF and maybe DH some.

I'd like to see Vavra get a few weeks of full time action at 2nd before they bring up Henderson and/or Westburg.

  7. I do wonder if Hall could have more success working on his command issues in the majors.  Working with the Oriole pitching coaches, having him connected with Lyles etc.  It may be as much about approach (trying to strike everyone out) as ability and he may get better guidance in the majors.
