For how much.  Will they need the 2.5m  slot money  that was in the Gausman deal to sign him?

People were speculating at least $3.5 M for VVM back when NYY were accumulating additional slot $$. Miami still has almost $4 M I think and a natural fit with their Cuban community. IMO we would need to go $4.5 M, maybe higher, to get VVM. Maybe also sign his brother for $500 K so that is probably $5 M needed conservatively. Then there is the pitcher who Miami had a $2 M offer to but pulled because reportedly a failed drug test. Maybe $1.5 M for him and you have 3 new top Cuban prospects, at least 1 of which is top 100 immediately. Gausman was traded for slot money, to dump salary, and a lottery ticket.

Swish it around and spit it out, pfffft.  You're not a snob.  Puff that chest out and stand tall.

Exactly, I have a similar story. My nephews GF is a chef. She put on a wine tasting with 5 food stations from around the world, 4 bottles per station so 20 "tastings". Me, I'm a Natty Boh kinda guy. So end of the night she passes around a survey asking all to rank the wines at each station from most expensive to least. Everyone else was a wine person. I scored 20 for 20 and won the hand painted wine glass and promptly filled it with Natty Boh. The wine snobs were not amused. lol

First off, I would give Davis the rest of this year to see if there is any hope at all.   Assuming there isn't, I would approach him about reaching a settlement on his contract where the Orioles can save something.  Anything.    Obviously, Davis is entitled to the contract in it's entirety.

They are deferring $6MM so that's $42 MM, in a pot to be paid on some future schedule. Why not just add the remaining $68 MM (after this year) to that pot and agree on a payout schedule between $3-4 MM per year for the next 30 years to just go away? Buck would never agree but maybe PA is losing faith in Buck based on the performance of Buck's choices.

More likely Trumbo is moved, not nearly as burdensome a contract.

With that in mind, the Mets need a 1B and another bat having moved Duda and Bruce and with other player injuries. They will have their big 4 SP back next year and have other back end SP options. So Trumbo to NYM with someone like Wright (maybe some $$) for Zack Wheeler. Limited to 80+ innings this first year back from TJ and on the DL with  arm strain. Prior to TJ had about 350 innings at mid-3 ERA. Would be 28 next year. Give him this year's Bundy treatment next year.

Evidently not.  I fill in my CC info, address, etc. but I can't get to the next screen without first filling out the "Create your PayPal account" section.  I really don't need a PayPal account which is why I don't already have one.  Is there some work-around?

I read what AnythingO's wrote.  Is it necessary to first establish the PayPal account then refuse to confirm it if you don't want it?

I don't know if the payment will go thru if you don't "confirm" because I did confirm.

Gentile was traded to KC A's for 1B Norm Siebern ,straight up, in 1964.  Boog still played LF that year and I believe he still wore No. 16 then.  Anybody wanna play Oriole triva, since nothin' much is goin' on?

Yeah I know it wasn't connected and Marv played in between but I blamed Blog anyway when.my.bero went away. Didn't matter that Jim's performance fell.off.tbe table. But then I came to love Blog,.live and.learn.

Damn, and you still have your faculties, lol!  No. 9, Boyd was good with the glove, too, not much power, little guy.  I remember, before we got Gentile, Boyd and huge Walt Dropo, No. 17, platooned at 1B, in what, 1959?  That's the year I became a fan.  Jackie "Flakey" Brandt was and still is my favorite Oriole.

OK you two are testing me so maybe you're a few years older but I remember when some kid namedBrooks came up in 1958 and was pissed when Blog moved from left field to first base because I blamed him for Diamond Jim getting moved. I was also pissed when Pappas was traded for that Robinson guy. Oh well, stats on damned. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
