Because there's no one that could have hit that pitch that Hicks swung at. IIRC, the reason coaches told you back in the day to swing no matter what was to distract the catcher. But that's back when you were a kid. No way Jonah Heim cares if Hicks swung at that ball or not, Gunnar was getting thrown out no matter what.

9/9 with a 16 rarity score. I tried to use some Orioles, only because I figured my knowledge of team history might help drive down the rarity score. But really, I just went with who I thought would be rare and didn't want to take too much time. This is one I'd want to try again and see if I could score lower.

Yeah, I'll say he was out. What an absolutely boneheaded decision that was. And I don't think Hyde sent him. I like Gunnar. But that attempted straight steal of home last week, the attempted steal today. I don't like pretending to know whats going on in these guys heads but I can't help but think Gunnar has a bit of a superhero complex. Wouldn't know it from that southern drawl and the "aw shucks" vibe he gives but I do believe his aggressiveness can get the best of him sometimes. But that's not the reason we lost. The bats are flat. Holding Texas to three runs was good. Our guys just can't hit and they haven't been hitting for weeks now. Hope they can find a way to fix it.
