  1. I think Hall walks him anyway but that was absurd.
  2. I think Fuji has iffy command and a flat fastball.
  3. Has someone already said that Hall “has that closer’s mentality” ? I love hearing about a closer’s mentality from experts who have never closed a big league game.
  4. Who could have predicted Hays striking out on a pitch above the zone? Not me.
  5. Can you believe it?!? Of course you can! Thanks, Kev.
  6. You’re not the best at debating sometimes.
  7. Isn't the OP the dude that thinks we should sweep every series and considers it a tragedy when we don't?
  8. I've used Dave Stewart a lot before. Whenever the A's roll around I think of four players: Dennis Eckersley, Rickey Henderson, Dave Stewart and Jose Canseco. All had really significant careers and a lot of that significance came from the A's. But they all played for a fair amount of other teams, too. Can usually fill an A's box with any of those guys.
  9. Not every player hauls ass up the line on every opportunity, either. I wonder how much of that screws with things.
  10. True, they're both bad. But neither have bungled a situation (Ohtani and Trout) as poorly as the Angels have. And while the White Sox and Royals haven't been in a position to go all in at the deadline and then put a bunch of guys on waivers right after, I don't know if either team would.
  11. No one cares about that franchise, so they're not under a terrible amount of scrutiny the way the Yankees would be. I mean, people watch them but it's because they have a unicorn (Ohtani) and the defining player of a generation (Trout) but I don't think they have much of a fanbase that'll whine about how awful they are. The song has always been the same with them for a number of years "How can they be so bad with Trout and Ohtani? How are they messing this up?" For my money, they're the worst run organization in the game. I'm sure there are others, it depends on what your metrics are and how you're judging them. But what the Angels have done over the past 6-7 weeks has been a streak of pathetic management decisions that I don't think anyone else can come quite close to.
  12. He's more talented than either one of them, for starters. The variables here are interesting. Whatever's wrong with Bradley and Manoah might be something that could have hampered G-Rod in a similar way, too. It's hard to say, but I don't believe everyone can be saved. I certainly think that guys benefit from being in the right situation at the right time with the right coaching and that can get them back on track but that's a matter of circumstance.
  13. I went down an Earl Weaver rabbit hole on YouTube. This one is pretty good. If you think Palmer is a knowitall now, you should have heard him shortly after he retired. I'd give any amount of money to have spent time with him and Weaver in a broadcast booth.
  14. 9/9 today with 116 rarity score. It was really easy, I spent maybe two minutes on it.
  15. I think that's any uniformed fan, it's not just relegated to the Red Sox and Yankees...but since those two teams are so high profile in the media, they're easy to point to and laugh at. These people don't spend hours on a site like this...they just listen to talk radio, they watch some games, they don't know much past that. So they make those trades, their system is bare and the prospect they trade away goes on to play well somewhere else...they'll cry about that guy having success somewhere else, too. Anyway, not surprised about Devers being bad at 3rd, all you had to do was look at that guys body type to know what his future would look like. Some bad-body athletes (Kirby Puckett comes to mind immediately) can still play despite carrying some extra weight around the middle...but those guys are usually exceptions, not the rules. Devers is barely 6 feet tall, I don't know if they'd want him at first base in the next few years.
  16. If he’s getting into one of his big heaters where he looks like a totally different dude, he’s picked a very good time to do it.
