  1. As a Redskins/WFT/Commies fan, if you had told me three years ago that Dan Snyder would no longer be the owner of the franchise in August of 2023, I'd have laughed in your face. I was fully prepared to have that doucheloaf owning my favorite football team for most of the rest of my life. I figured I'd outlast him...he's older than me and looked liked 10 pounds of **** stuffed into a 5 pound bag. I'm in pretty good shape. But I figured he'd own the team for the next 25+ years, easy. And if they somehow won a Super Bowl under his ownership, seeing him lift the Lombardi trophy would sully any of the good feelings I'd have. I say that to say that there's no telling what could come down the pike at John Angelos to get him to want to sell. I think JA is a jerk, but not on the same level of Dan Snyder...which proved to be Dan Snyder's undoing. Still, we don't know what could happen in order to make him sell the team. I'm preferring to remain optimistic that he won't have an iron grip on the franchise forever.
  2. Walk him, then. I think Mounty has been a bit more selective since coming back, he's not swinging at crap all the time. I'm fine with them pitching around him.
  3. Excited to see G-Rod tonight. He's become must-see since he's been back. The Jays are the AL version of the Padres, IMO. A ton of talent, they should be better than their record is. And yet, they're kind of chumps. But they can still put together a good stretch.
  4. You guys are so afraid of Scott Boras and it’s hilarious. You’d think he was Jason, Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger all rolled into one and acting as a sports agent.
  5. Then I’m not buying that Baltimore is a small market. It is unrealistic to consider the type of market it is if the DC area isn’t part of their calculation. I will agree that it’s hard to tell how much of DC plays a part into the Baltimore market, but we all know it does. IMO it’s a mid market team.
  6. Does their poverty index or RMS or whatever take into account that the Orioles and their location dips into the DC market or not?
  7. While I agree with your post in spirit, MLB won't NOT approve of an owner because they're thrifty and a douchebag. This is the thing that's obnoxious...if Tampa can do these things, there's no reason we can't. It just sucks to have a cheesedick owner like this who's inserted himself into the conversation about this team a few times this year...when we should all just be enjoying everything and not worried about the future.
  8. Missed two, the first two Cardinals squares. @Just RegularI leave the tab open sometimes and come back to it. That's how I got 3 of my squares completed. I'm finding less and less joy in this game and more annoyance though, lol. Also for some reason, I very rarely think of any pitchers. I am not sure why that is.
  9. What a moron. There's no reason they can't lock up guys like Gunnar and Adley. And they already should have. I can't stand Craig Calcaterra but this is pretty hilarious and spot on.
  10. I got 9/9 yesterday. But I took one look at this mornings and like a high schooler who didn't study for a science test, I just rolled my eyes and felt some dread. This looks awful.
  11. I used to do this and had the same frustrations. It’d work for a few weeks at a time and then all of a sudden not work. It was incredibly frustrating. Eventually got tired of it, bit the bullet and got DirectTv streaming. It was fun sticking it to the man for a bit but ultimately exhausting trying to get that thing set up to work. I had like 5 different VPNs at one point.
  12. Gibson has more innings by about 23.
  13. As someone who was down on him earlier this year, this is really stupid. We're all fans here, we all have players we love, we all have players we don't like and we all have players we love to not like. I don't think there's a single person here who'd prefer to see a player slump just in order to pound their chest to say "I told you so." Not Mateo, not McKenna, not Mountcastle not anybody. We'd all prefer it if Mateo were closer to the player he was when he started the year. We'd all prefer Mountcastle to be closer to the guy he is right now and not towards who he was before the All-Star Break. Everyone here can agree on one thing: We all want what's best for the team. And while a lot of us disagree on what that is, I think we should all be able to agree that Mountcastle hitting the way he's been hitting is a positive for this team. No one here's disappointed that he's had some recent success and no one here prefers a slumping Ryan Mountcastle. Get out of here with that garbage.
  14. I’ve explained this to you before and you didn’t get it so I know I’m wasting my breath here. One of the beautiful things about baseball is how democratic it is. You can’t give the ball to Michael Jordan 30 times a game. You can’t rely on Tom Brady throwing for five touchdowns. Because some all-star catchers won some rings, it doesn’t matter. You pretending like they put their teams on their backs in the way Jordan and Brady and others did is silly. Baseball doesn’t work that way.
  15. I love Sturgill Simpson but I’m puzzled as to why they keep playing his song between outs.
  16. The A’s are such a poverty franchise that their retired numbers are displayed on the covered seats in the upper deck.
