The Curse of Mark DeRosa. It was like 2 or 3 months ago where he broke down Mateo and the toe tap and we were all like "WHOA a toe tap, Mateo's legit!" and then he went right back to being Mateo. Anyway, I'm with @Frobbyon this. I've been a pretty vocal Mountcastle critic over the years here. It sucks because I think he's a great guy and his teammates appear to love him but his shortcomings have been apparent. I'm curious to see if any real changes have been made. He's gone on heaters before, we're all aware of that. But we need to see how he handles a slump and how long that is. The slumps are insufferable, they last forever and it's nothing but impatience at the plate and poor, pull-happy swing decisions. I'm loving that he's using all fields lately, I hope he continues with that. And if he can continue to be a little more selective at the plate, that might make a difference for him.

Sure. Maybe it's just me, but in there've been situations in life where I've felt the need to protect someone. And not say a name, or not tell a story, or not divulge personal information. And I really don't see a giant difference here. The main difference is that some of you guys are still emotional 7 years later and feel the need to know every little thing that happened...because we feel like we deserve it for some reason. And it bugs you that Buck won't share it, but alluded to a greater story.

Buck is great. Class act to not throw anyone under the bus in regards to the Britton situation. I hope he gets that ovation, too. And I think he will.

This board is hilarious. First place in August after 5 years of largely crap and you're talking about Game One starters, World Series starters....you're like the dorky 9th grader who all of a sudden found a weight bench and can bench press the bar and got all cocky all of a sudden.

I admire the optimism but to anoint him as a Game One starter after 6 innings is a bit silly. That said, he pitched better than expected yesterday. Very encouraging.
