I don't disagree that it's a good time to look at where the team is. I just don't think many -if any- GMs call a press conference specifically to make a proclamation like that.

I like Elias a lot and I think he's easily been the most accessible GM we've had in quite some time, however I can't imagine him holding a press conference on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend to say we're really going to go for it this year.

Kind of a bummer, but whatever. I want to see if Mateo can catch fire again. I have my doubts, but we'll see.

The time is odd. 4:45? Not 4:30, not 5pm....4:45. I don't know what to make of that. Maybe it means he wants to wrap it up in 15 minutes, no questions, etc. I can't imagine it'll be a major story though.

I dig Elias, man. Seems like an overall good dude, not afraid to sit in the stands at Yankee Stadium in what's usually a hostile environment. Sitting there like a Sith Lord, hood up, watching his team and keeping a low profile. Not cowering in some luxury box.

It's hard to say without having seen any of Westburg at the ML level. I'm assuming Henderson stays at 3rd, Holliday will be at SS as soon as a year from now. That leaves 2B open for either one of these two. I would probably stick with Ortiz as he profiles to be a better defender and I don't mind sacrificing some hitting for a great glove up the middle. And it's not that Ortiz looks completely lost at the plate either, I know he just doesn't have the pop that Westburg has. I don't think there's a wrong answer here. At the end of the day, it's nice to have options and it's nice to have plus talent in the system.

One of the funniest things about this board is that when the Orioles get good, posters get snippy with each other. If this team was 15 games under .500 and headed towards a last place finish, I bet the tone around here would be a lot different. Now suddenly that everyone cares and we're good, people are on edge cause...THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN OFTEN. And some of us don't know how to act.
