She's really not fine. She's not great at what she does when it comes to PBP. I agree with you that listening to her because she's a backup isn't a big deal. I think I'd be watching games on mute if she was the full time PBP announcer. But I think if states that she's "fine" or "good" at PBP, they're lying to the audience because they're more interested in making everyone aware of their social agenda.

I just read on Twitter that we’re actually paying Cobb 4.5 million this year. I’m not sure if that is actually true, but I’m going to assume that it is because paying someone to beat us would be pretty on-brand for the Orioles. That said, it’s still early in this game.

Agreed. I felt bad for Bordick because by all accounts he’s a good guy but listening to him was brutal.

She’s ok. I sort of disagree that she hasn’t gotten better at her job. Or maybe I just don’t mind her as much. She’s also not our full time play by play announcer so the outrage of how bad she is at PBP is a bit silly. If we have to listen to her call a few games a year because Kevin Brown is off somewhere researching more pop culture references and Geoff Arnold is on the radio, it’s not the worst thing in the world. This is a fanbase who had to suffer through the Michael Reghi years. And Jim “modest two game hitting streak” Hunter. You would think there’d be some awareness and recollection as to how bad it’s actually been at times. It could be worse. Melanie isn’t great but she’s not the full time PBP announcer and that’s a good thing.

Correct. Fixed by trading Mountcastle (no, we won’t get much for him) putting Tony at 1B, and bringing up Cowser to play RF. And bringing up Westburg/Ortiz for SS. I’ve been a Mateo supporter on here but when he’s cold at the plate he’s ice cold. I’m not chomping at the bit to get rid of him but I do think he can be replaced. I am, however, chomping at the bit to get rid of Mountcastle, who somehow seems to have gradually regressed over the course of his career. Someone pointed it out the other day, but if he had half the plate discipline of Adley, he’d probably be the best hitter on the team. So, yes, this team does have some obvious areas in which it could improve. Hoisting up “win pace” in early June is a fools errand. If it were late August, I’d be more receptive but we’re not even at the halfway mark.

Disagree. Mullins is (allegedly) out for 10 days. G-Rod was considered to be a centerpiece of our rotation for years to come. If Mullins is out longer, then I agree with you.

This makes sense and I’d be curious to know why that wasn’t done this past offseason. I’m assuming that they thought rehab was a good way to go but that seems to have backfired. Go ahead and get it over with, I agree.

More interested to see how G-Rod does. But glad to see Cowser is back.

It’s always been a dumpster fire. Whoever owns it has little to do with the fact that it’s a bunch of people trying to have arguments with small character limits. But that’s fine for a society that’s got the attention span of a gnat and everyone’s just trying to pwn someone else. That’s all Twitter is for. The fact that people think it’s a significant medium for the exchange of ideas and discourse should be scary to everyone.

I didn’t see anyone saying anyone was poop, though. No one made that argument. I also don’t see anyone saying that these guys can’t beat out mediocre vet players. Maybe except for the weird newcomer @Mr-splashwho has a mancrush on Frazier, but he’s an outlier. I think it’s clear that most everyone here wants Ortiz and/or Westburg up now. But it’s also perfectly reasonable to wonder about what those player’s shortcomings are.
