This helps the offense go. Has a catcher ever lead the league in walks? I know that’ll cue @Frobbywith a statement about not getting caught up in something like that so early in the season, but it’s nice to dream on. I can’t believe someone who’s primarily played catcher over the course of a season has lead the league in walks but if they’re gonna keep DHing him on his “off days” and keep pinch hitting him on his “off days” then he might have a shot.

Very disappointing start to his season. He’s fortunate that the team is winning and there are other more interesting topics to discuss (who to promote, etc) because he’s been a drag on the lineup.

Maybe. I think if someone comes within .3 WAR or so they can win it from him. His FIP is higher than his ERA so maybe that ERA comes back to earth a little bit. IMO, depends on what the Angels do. If they’re winners this year he has a chance. But I don’t think some voters would want to give it to him again if the Angels are under .500. He’s like Michael Jordan. He’s deserving every year but voter fatigue is real. Voter fatigue, IMO, for a guy on a perennial loser is also real.

That SLG took a big jump last night after the two doubles. IMO, needs to hit for a little more power if he wants to bring that award home this year. It’s totally possible if he keeps that slash line up and the team keeps winning.

I’ll gladly take the walks. Not making outs and keeping the innings going.

There’s fun and then there’s hopping around like a dork. Like I said, I like Baker and I think he’s good. But he’s awfully cocky for a guy that was picked up off the scrap heap.

Not sold on the Pirates? Dunno. They’re so far off my radar that I don’t think I can name 5 of their players. Doesn’t mean they can’t be legit. They’re +45 in runs, I don’t know how good they are but I don’t think they’re perennial doormats they usually are.

I like Baker but he’s a little too big for his britches with some of those antics.

Honestly, the Rays are kicking so much ass, I’m not totally concerned with them at the moment. They could come back to earth a little bit but seeing the Jays lose is more important, IMO.
