Great to see Grayson settling in.

I'm happy with it. IMO, McGriff suffered from a few things: Not always the best player on his team, not always the best player at his position (but a top 5 guy), no memorable moments, no heavy hardware awards, didn't lead the league in anything very often and was a quiet guy. He was just a very steady, very consistent hitter for a long time. In that vein, kind of like Eddie Murray but Eddie had the counting numbers. But, IMO, if the writers are going to hold the steroid era against certain guys, you gotta be more lenient -and really, more supportive of- a guy like Fred McGriff who never was once mentioned as a steroid guy. Getting in was long overdue for him. And while I always appreciated him while he played, I just really liked the Tom Emanski commercials more than anything and especially at the end where he pointed at the camera. So that's why I've got the avatar.

I'm inclined to agree, but he's averaging a little under 12 pitches per inning right now. If he's still perfect later in the game, I think they let him go for it.

deGrom gonna set a K in a game record today? Or at least match the Kerry Wood/Roger Clemens mark?

Great inning after a shaky start! If he can get through 5, that'll be something, especially after how the game started.

He's settled down pretty nicely. If he can get Garcia here, that'd be great.

That was an ugly throw. I'm not sure if he should have eaten that one or not but I wouldn't have been mad if he did.

deGrom is absurd. Too bad the injuries have nagged him over the years...when he is 100% IMO, he's the best in the game. The treat today wasn't G-Rod, it will be seeing deGrom slice through our lineup like a warm knife through butter. IMO, this is one of those games where you just have to appreciate what the other dude has. Our best bet is to keep the score close and maybe get to their bullpen if deGrom only goes 6.

I don't think anyone was being too negative but there wasn't too much to be excited about in that first inning. People were spitting facts...Grayson couldn't locate anything and got hit hard. That's what happened.

deGrom doesn't have bad back to back starts. We're going to be in for a long, long afternoon at this rate. Got the series win, that's what matters most.

I think one swing and miss this inning, right? I don't like that he can't replicate his motion, and you can tell by how he's following through on his pitches. Sometimes he's square to the plate, other times he's falling off to the side. So his front foot isn't landing in the same spot, he's not striding directly towards home plate...sometimes he's closed off to the RHB box and trying to compensate by swinging around to the left.

I would have tried up around the letters. Garcia is a guy that's prone to striking out and I bet he'd have chased.
