  1. Let's make a deal: Continue to rage against these picks and what Elias is doing and you're not allowed to root for any of these players if they pan out to be legit prospects.
  2. Don't you dare tell SG that getting worked up is silly. SG will damn well get worked up wherever he damn well pleases.

  4. Baumler to TJ gets an eyeroll from me. Practically every pitcher has to have that surgery at some point or another. But overall, yes, it remains to be seen. That said, the quality of the talent picked in the later rounds appears to be pretty good.
  5. I understand you qualified your statement that you do not BELIEVE that this is an organization that can constantly afford to try and outsmart the entire industry. But they're going to have to. They're clearly not going to spend in the stratosphere with the Yankees and Sox. They'll spend liket they did in the 2010s but they won't sustain that for years and years on end. They have to outsmart the entire industry, there's really not another option. Tampa does it, why can't we? And quite frankly, this strategy really isn't outsmarting anyone. It's not like it's revolutionary or something that people haven't seen before.
  6. To piggyback on that, it's not like we just took a guy without any upside. And it's not like we stretched way hard to pick someone who was projected at the late first round/early second round. If we're going by mock drafts (really, that's all a lot of us have to go on) he was going to be picked anywhere from 10-15th, most likely. So we reached a little bit, but not like the Royals with Frank Mozzarella.
  7. Thankya, it was a well informed post. I knew Martin wasn't hitting for power but didn't know about his fielding woes.
  8. Yeah, but that trade isn't a possibility. So answer my question. Did we not get good players at the back of the draft last year? And how can he not maximize the draft when he spent practically all of the draft pool money? (Shut up in advance, CoC).
  9. No strategy is guaranteed to work. And the player they targeted with the savings didn't make it for reasons that don't have to do with performance.
  10. @wildcardjust DM'd me to say he's got Cowser going to the Hall of Fame based off that sample size.
  11. That's not true. You guys are bitching at Elias because of his draft strategy....as if the MLB draft is the only way to get talent into the system.
