I'd never heard of Mitchell Page. Looking at the stat lines, he probably should have won the ROY that year. I know OPS wasn't a thing then, but he beat Murray by a good bit. I'm assuming Murray won because he played for a winner? -
I mean, there's got to be some correlation between our % chance of making the playoffs and RISP. I think that's the real question here. Anyway, we close out August on the road against the Sox and Yanks. And while Cleveland may have a cupcake schedule the rest of the way, we've got our schedule loaded against the Sox, Rays, Jays and Yanks in September. Our fate squarely lies in our own hands, from Sept 9th until the end of the month we're playing nothing but teams in our division. Now, we've got some fixing to do. Starting p*****ing and the bullpen has to get it together. But we're 6-4 against Boston this year, 7-5 against the Yankees, but 6-7 against the Jays and 6-9 against the Rays. We play relatively well against our division. We've got to take at least 2 of 3 from the A's in this series and we've got to get hot on the road so we can beat up on Cleveland and Chicago headed into September. There's still a lot of baseball to be played.

Could relax in the 9th inning tonight, for sure. Really need to step it up tomorrow, it'd be nice if they could turn it back around on the Astros. Offense is dead and it doesn't look like they're answering the bell anytime soon.

I'm curious to see what MSK and the rest of the SPEND SPEND SPEND crowd would be saying if we weren't in the AL East with the Yankees and Sox. I'm convinced that because we're juxtaposed with these two franchises and have watched them spend ungodly amounts of money for over 10 years makes people around here want to just dish out contracts left and right "because they do it!!!" If we were competing with the Indians and Royals every year, I'm willing to bet this board would have a drastically different tone/attitude towards spending and FA.

That overall OBP is so troublesome. But it was nice to see in May that there was a nice separation between the batting average and OBP although neither of the stats were high enough. Pitching, pitching, pitching...Starters ERA is unacceptable.
