  1. There's no food/beverage/cheap ticket special that could really get me out to the ballpark right now. Other than taking mom and dad for mothers day/fathers day which has become a tradition, I don't feel the need to go. I live too far, the team's not that great, and I've been to plenty of games over the years. I've said it before, I'll say it again...the home experience is way better now than it's ever been and that's a main reason why attendance is down. Super high def TVs, comfy furnishings, A/C, your own food and beverage selections are way better than watching a game in person in the middle of July, especially when your team is not that good.
  2. As someone said earlier, the Orioles have a 0% chance of making the playoffs next year, with or without Villar. There's no reason to pay someone that amount of money if he doesn't move the needle towards postseason play. I don't know who'd all of a sudden trade a "real prospect" for him at the deadline next year. I don't think it works that way. Jonathan Villar is a good player, I liked him. He was fun to watch. "I'm buying a ticket to go see Jonathan Villar play," said no one ever. The results for the 2020 Orioles will be the same without him as they would with him.
  3. Gleyber Torres is responsible for, like, 50 of those homers allowed just by himself. @Enjoy Terror got it correct, the park plays slightly to favor hitters but not by a whopping amount. Our pitching is the thing that sucks, the homers these guys give up would be out of practically any stadium.
  4. I'm alright with this deal. Don't hate it, don't love it. It's just alright. I will say with Elias at the helm along with Sig and his mighty gang, I feel that deals like this have a bit more upside than anything DD or any previous regime would have done. I'm not saying that there's an analytics magic wand that they can wave and make fringe guys like this good, but there's a better chance now than ever. To anyone that's upset about this move, once again, you've seriously overrated the talent on this team and what the market is calling for.
  5. Express VPN. Works like a charm.
  6. Late to the game but I'll defer to Elias' judgement.
  7. Hopefully the kids have more to cheer about this year.
  8. 2012 was magic, for sure. Haven't had that much fun in a summer for a long, long time. Everything seemed to click.
  9. I'm not sure what people expect to get in return for these players. I think these threads start off with the best type of intentions but I don't believe that anyone should be under the impression that we're going to get a core piece of the franchise moving forward for a guy like Mancini. Maybe, just maybe, you get a guy who's not highly regarded by another team and he blossoms here. But for the guys we've got on the team right now that are "trade bait," no one's giving up significant prospects. Add to that the shift in what MLB teams are now valuing which is young, cost controlled talent...and there aren't going to be any great returns for what we've got.
  10. Cause Ellsbury sucks. As much as I don't like the owners, I don't like guys like Ellsbury (or in our case, Davis) being as awful as they are with huge contracts. But at least Davis sees the field and appears to be trying. I don't think contracts/situations like these are particularly good for the sport.
  11. What are you guys even talking about right now?
  12. It's definitely a make or break year for Diaz. Dude needs to be healthy, dude needs to produce. Per the article, he showed what he can do when healthy but it needs to happen for a full season. I'm not going to make any proclamations on when he'll end up in Baltimore but hopefully he lights it up and forces their decision. You guys have a boner for Mountcastle, it's weird.
  13. There's no risk when they suck.
  14. I'm actually rooting for the Yankees here. I think I need to take a shower.
  15. I'll refrain from my yearly rant on how I hate the Rule 5. It's been well documented. Santander was pretty good last year, I'd put him in the nice surprise column. And Richie Martin was solid with the glove, I thought (take your defensive metrics and shove it). And he had a decent 2nd half with the bat, too. That said, I'd like to stay away from Rule 5 arms. They almost always suck.
  16. @wildcard I appreciate the enthusiasm but this thread is worthless this early into the offseason. Trades could happen, free agents could be signed, players could be DFA'd...too many variables to start throwing around predictions like this.
  17. Past two seasons, I've had an MLB TV subscription and used a VPN to get around the blackout. I've cut the cord, that's how I've had to watch Orioles games. MASN sucks.
  18. His disdain for @TonySoprano I tried to reassure Ken that Soprano is a good guy with good intentions, just holds a bit of a grudge. But is a big softie on the inside.
  19. Curious to see the outrage on the return of a Bundy trade. I'm predicting that a lot of us overrate Bundy (like we do with most all of our "assets") and will be grumpy at the return.
  20. I'd have to see what the average MLB first baseman gets paid before saying yes to a deal like that for Mountcastle. Then again, I look at Chris Davis and I want to be like
