  1. Hays was a top prospect, and I think that sometimes people believe that being on the Top 100 lists means you're going to get a star or a generational talent. You are lucky to get a solid everyday ML player off of a top 100 list, most will not even be that, with the exception of the few generational talents here and there.
  2. I think it's important that you know that you, not watching the games will benefit no one, but maybe yourself. You have no power, zero, none, nada over what happens if you watch a game. I'd never tell someone how to fan their team, but yours is one of the most bizarre I've ever seen. "I won't watch games live and then I won't watch them if they lose unless it's a slugfest". It's like being a huge fan of mystery books or movies but refusing to read or watch them until you've read the spoilers of whodunnit at the end. Doesn't sound very exciting to me.
  3. When they asked Hyde about what he took from this series was he was just glad they got out of it healthy. He mentioned that was more important than chasing personal stats in meaningless games. I'd guess the message was to dial it back, don't get hurt.
  4. The question you have to ask yourself is do you believe that they played the string out with the same intensity that they did up until they clinched the division? If you believe that, then yes, be very afraid.
  5. I'm guessing he doesn't care. if anything another full season might detract from his career WAR.
  6. You could pick a AAAA pitcher and pay him the league minimum for that production, why give 9M dollars to him? He's not going to take the league minimum.
  7. I wouldn't blame him. Wainwright got to 200 wins but it took him getting bludgeoned the whole year. If KC wants to try to turn the corner they aren't bringing him back, I don't know what team would. He's been awful.
  8. I think you're overthinking things. They've been in a pressure cooker for the entire season, they finally get some games where they don't have to show up at 100% intensity and everyone thinks this is what is going to show up next week. They don't want to get hurt, they are just going through the motions in meaningless games for the first time all season.
  9. I'd hope they are trading for equal value, not trading prospects for 30 year old starters. Teams that are backlogged in the minors with pitching like we are with hitting would probably be the best fit.
  10. There is no easy path to the ALCS or the World Series. It doesn't matter who they play, they'll find out if they are good enough one way or the other.
  11. They aren't trading the entire OF/IF of existing players to give prospects the spots. I think it's more likely they trade prospects for pitching and the ones that remain will get a chance to break camp with the team if they force the issue.
  12. Interestingly enough, the Norfolk affiliate hasn't won the AAA championship since 1983 when they were the Mets affiliate. An odd coincidence with the MLB team. 40 years ago.
  13. Unless you are Brandon Hyde, this is speculation and therefore just opinion. If you are Brandon Hyde, can I DM you my Twitter so you can follow me? It would look cool to my friends.
  14. Flaherty hadn't pitched in 8 days. I, for one, am shocked, shocked I say, that he wasn't sharp tonight. Shocked.
  15. Ah, I'm definitely on the other side of that debate.
  16. I mean the samples are small but he's striking out 36% of the time while walking 3% of the time. Who does he replace?
  17. I mean, his last two RBI's were on a dying quail that should have been caught and what should have been an error, it's not like he's crushing it lol.
  18. I'm not bothered by anything going on. I want them healthy for the playoffs, I have zero doubt the intensity will show up when it's needed. These games are nothing more than getting some exercise.
  19. Getting dominated by the likes of Kyle Gibson and Bruce Zimmerman.
  20. The only choice we have is to believe they are the team that won the division two nights ago, or a team that lucked their way in and isn't good enough for the playoffs.
  21. Of course, I'm joking. It means absolutely nothing if they don't score a run in the next two days. They are trying to not get hurt and get this season over.
