  1. Pedigree is as pedigree does, and lately that ain't much: .146/.208/.167/.364 for September. And there needs to be a better reason for Holliday to be on the post season roster than bonding with the gang for some future potential theoretical psychological payoff. A lot better.
  2. And suddenly watching the O's is fun again. Visiting the game game thread is no longer suicide-inducing...
  3. Very weak. OTOH, there's still a possibility that Jackson Merrill won't win in the NL. Who didn't want Cowser to have had that rookie season?
  4. Jeez, it really was a welcome game tonight. I had a good buzz going... Now I have to factor in your chronic angst. Thanks man.
  5. The proposition that every auction automatically results in an overpay is simplified indeed. Granted, "kind of true" is a low bar to clear, but still...
  6. As Gavin Stone heads to the IL, the Dodgers say: "here, hold my beer".
  7. Nah, I learned it by hanging out here.
  8. If Johnson's first 160 ML innings are as good as Rogers' were this board is going to have a nuclear grade meltdown.
  9. There has never been a situation that can't be improved by adding complexity. Amirite?
  10. Not to mention our all-star third baseman. Cuts both ways too.
  11. Me too. I'm not going to take the time to research this, but when was the last time a .667 winning percentage didn't make it into the post season? Right now there isn't a single team in either league close to that standard. While sweeping the White Sox would be welcome, I'm not going to whine about two out of three.
  12. I really, really enjoyed watching his start. Way beyond what I expected and much needed given the O's last couple of months. Personally I would hold off on throwing around extensions, QO's and the like until after he shows that he's not the 2025 version of Jordan Montgomery. Remember him? Me neither now that I've sobered up.
  13. I don't either and that's why I want Rubenstine to make an exception to that very sensible rule just one time when it comes to Elias.
  14. Wow, that's great news.
  15. Actual question - at what point does the Orioles' efforts in the international amateur market start to become apparant? I seem to recall that pitching was rumored to be a focus there.
  16. Sorry, but Rob Manfred has owned this title for at least a decade now.
  17. A lot of people (including posters here) still don't realize how spoiled they ought to feel. I've been subscribing to MLB TV for around 15 years now and have done a lot of skipping around watching other teams. Folks, there are a LOT of bad baseball sportcasters out there.
  18. Usually I skew optimist, but I'll take 7-7 over this stretch and not complain.
  19. All of Elias' tenure with the O's has been Angelos era right up to one day prior to 2024 Opening Day. I agree with Sports Guy that more value now needs to be placed on roster spots. The ML team is competitive and the new ownership is predicted (reasonably IMO) to be significantly less cheap, so the approach should reflect that.
  20. Pass. Lottery tickets; flyers; reclamation projects.... They all seem so Angelos era.
  21. Yeah but they only won by two and were behind most of the game. I blame Elias.
  22. Anybody else see this thread coming?
  23. Probably irrational, but I'm glad to see Vavra go. I doubt the roster maneuver means anything more than he did during his time with the O's. I think it's meaningful that my post is the first one in this thread to focus on the consequences of losing Vavra.
