That was a ball Stanton hit yesterday. 114 mph line drive off the wall that caromed right back to Hays, so Stanton had to stop at first.

Haha.  When I read Frobby's comment my first thought was 'It had to have been a 115mph line drive by Stanton hit too hard to advance to second base'

That man is a freak show.  Worth the price of admission to watch him swing it.

There was a reason a guy the Dodgers spent over $40 million on was available for a rental.

If that doesn’t illustrate how starkly different the two organizations are, I don’t know what does.

Org A spends $40mm on an international lottery ticket and trades him away for one month of a playoff run.

Org B major league rosters is $40mm.

So depressing to be an Orioles fan.

He can face LHP in AAA and in the majors. I would certainly not hold him back because of it.

Not saying they should.  Just pointing out a current weak spot for him.  AA pitchers don’t want to throw him strikes, so I’d like to see him challenged in AAA.

Understood, but it's not what he's doing as much as how he's doing it.  He's got more walks than strikeouts 25% into the season.  To his credit, he eliminated the amount of swing and miss.  Does he still have weaknesses?  I'm sure he does.  Let's see the AAA pitchers see if they can find them and exploit them. Right now, Henderson is a 20 year old with the same ML approach that Rutschman has.

SSS suggest he has had struggles against LHP.

  5. Looked to me like he was trying to be too perfect and fell behind in the count early and often.  Not gonna do well against Yankees going 1-0 and 2-0 to their batters. That slider is something else.

I guess it’s too late unwieldy to list the RISP numbers daily, so I’ll try weekly instead.  The first “week” will be the ten days period that ended on April 17.   All references are to the week ending _____.

    4/17: 10 for 86 (.116); 21 runs in 9 games

    4/24: 11 for 58 (.190); 23 runs in 7 games

    5/1: 15 for 52 (.288); 27 runs in 6 games

    5/8: 10 for 43 (.233); 25 runs in 6 games

So far this week, 8 for 35.   Last night was an ugly 1 for 12, leaving the bases loaded in each of the final three innings.

Those are some ugly numbers.  I guess the good news is we really can’t do much worse.
