  1. At some point, something's got to give. It's a sunk cost at this point.
  2. Or maybe a wild pitch on strike three and 3 errors.
  3. His exit velocity wasn't particularly great for power hitters in those years, imo, but I'm not well versed on this either. Where's the power this year? Does this infer he's not as strong? Just asking.
  4. Even on the "hard" hit balls, i found that they just died. This is a guy who used to be able to hit tape measure HRs to all fields. I don't know if it's the fact that his swing is all arms, his bat speed is extremely slow, or both, but the ball just doesn't jump off his bat on the few occasions that he has squared it up. I think someone mentioned he looks smaller and I tend to agree. He almost looks like he's swimming in his jersey now. I'm not trying to infer anything about his past success but he even appears to be a shadow of his former self physically. Anyway, imagine if we played last night's game in an NL park, we'd score even more runs.
  5. I just read Jon Lester went 66 ABs without a hit. http://www.espn.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/13211910/jon-lester-chicago-cubs-snaps-0-66-slump-first-career-hit https://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/jon-lester-sets-mlb-hitless-record-052815
  6. Probably, but in the record books it's a "line drive" single to right.
  7. It might be in Davis' best interests to try to drop a bunt down tonight.
  8. Maybe so, but it seems that the driving force behind the Gausman deal was to save money.
  9. We traded Gausman to Atlanta (a team overflowing with young pitching) and couldn't get one of those guys.
  10. I wish his big fastball led to more strikeouts. His k rate seems to have dropped since becoming an Oriole.
  11. TOR might have the worst offense in baseball right now.
  12. It's not surprising imo. Many of the guys we're counting on right now are cast-offs from other organizations.
  13. Chris Davis hasn't gotten a hit, Trevor Rosenthal hasn't recorded an out (9 batters faced over 4 appearances). These events are leading up to an epic matchup.
  14. I wouldn't doubt that Chris Davis' at bats have turned into a drinking game.
  15. I honestly think it would be great if he got voted in.
  16. I think we should vote him into the Allstar game.
  17. Straily put up a .544 OPS in 43 PA last season. So if anything, it's another option off the bench to hit for Davis late in the game.
  18. Chris Davis ' company are light-hitting middle infielders....ouch.
  19. If Davis was a light hitting SS with gold glove defense it would be an easier pill to swallow (contract aside) but he's taking up a position that's reserved for offense. Basically, great hitters that can't play defense, usually end up at 1st or DH. Having the pitcher bat for himself is an upgrade. That's depressing.
  20. He could even buy all the tickets so nobody attends the games to see him struggle.
  21. Seriously though, I wonder if we'll ever see more unorthodox shifts against him. Especially with the game on the line. You don't really need 4 infielders when he's up as he rarely hits the ball on the ground to the left side, if ever.
  22. They are probably going to put 3 infielders behind the catcher in case of wild pitches on strike three.
  23. I don't believe I'm complaining loudly. Just giving an opinion.
  24. I think he should have given him an opportunity to finish the inning and then reevaluate. Considering he stretched out Givens yesterday, I would have thought he might have done the same with Hess. Anyway, not a huge deal. The kid pitched great and most importantly, gave the pen some relief. Now, hopefully they can win.
