  1. Also, someone who's being brought on to be a talking head on Bloomberg isn't going to say, "Yeah this is a real white elephant! I'm gonna be losing money hand over fist!"
  2. I saw "Orioles" trending on Twitter, assumed that the sale had fallen apart somehow, and instead it's because we traded for a former Cy Young winner in his 20s. This is like if I ran into Ana de Armas at a 7/11 and she asked me if I wanted to get dinner.
  3. This is like, the least important aspect of this news, but I can't believe this was Ourand's first story at Puck. What a way to start a job--you can coast on that for a while.
  4. Gotta think he's a goodwill gesture toward fans in the sense of, "Hey Baltimore--a bunch of PE guys bought your team, but Cal is involved, so we'll definitely be staying in Camden Yards."
  5. Maybe I'm reading too much into the phrasing, but this makes it sounds as though the paperwork is already in front of Major League Baseball.
  6. I hate it when I go to the Devon and Blakely by my office in downtown DC and get a bad wrap.
  7. I'll always be fond of the guy. He came to my high school back in 2008 on some sort of career day-like event and was very kind/patient to an 18-year-old me, who desperately wanted to be a journalist. That being said, the whole posting streak shtick was...tired at best.
  8. Almost like there's a difference between a self-made billionaire and a product of nepotism.
  9. I don't disagree with the vast majority of what you said, but 1998 to 2011 was pure hell and was almost entirely Peter's fault. That era wipes away any positive memories I have about the mid- and late-90s.
  10. I don't know how many people follow the Premier League, but this isn't like 777 Partners trying to buy Everton, where this is concern regarding if they actually have the finances to sustain the team. I think MLB will be very happy to have someone like Rubenstein in the fold.
