I am honestly confused by the Mets.  They had lots of injuries this year.  But were not they planning to compete in 24?  I dont know why they feel compelled to move their big named pitchers now?  Did they not see any chance to bounce back in 24?  How can a team with this much money invested panic with one bad season?

Cohen looking ahead to 24 I imagine will go hard after Ohtani in the offseason and if he really wants him he won't be out bid.

  2. Its July 31st and we are in 1st place in the toughest division in baseball and have the best record in the AL.  I think most would agree we don't need to make a big splash. We have a good thing going right now with some good chemistry amongst these guys.

We have a young pitching staff who are already approaching career highs in innings and its only August. Wells based off his recent struggles likely already has some arm fatigue. Can we realistically count on  Wells, Bradish, Kremer and G-Rod to be at their best down the stretch. I don't think so and if Elias doesn't address that in someway, shape or form that's going to be a huge let down.

While its clear that Elias and Co. know how to draft and develop, but can they negotiate trades and fa signings?

  3. With ownership showing year over year that they’re not willing to significantly increase payroll wouldn’t it be foolish to part with cheap controllable talent for what a 2 month rental? Unless we’re getting a guy back with at least 2 plus years control I wouldn’t part with any of our top 10 prospects. I could see a mlb player like Urias moved along with AAA guys like stowers and vavra moved, hopefully for middle relieve.

  4. Wells innings are a concern so why not have G-Rod piggy back wells when he comes up to help keep Wells innings down?

I don’t see Elias trading much in the form of prospects for TOR starter that’s a half year rental but I could see him doing it for a guy with 2 plus years of control, just not sure who that guy would or could be.

  5. If we’re going to part with any of our top prospects. I think we should look for more than a rental.

Who should we target if we were to offer say Hays, Mayo plus a fringe prospect?

I say Hayes because it’s the right time to sell high on him.

  6. Pitching and more pitching.

Kremer, Wells, Bradish have pitched well for us and hope they continue to but I would imaging their on some kinda innings limit.

Gibson and Irving are the only two starters that have pitched more than 125 innings. And Irving just isn’t going to make it.

  7. He sucked tonight that's for sure but he was also pretty darn good against the best offense in baseball his previous start. He's going to take his lumps this year. I'm pretty sure we'll see more of what we saw against Tampa and more of what we saw tonight from him the rest of the season. The experience he's gaining this year learning to pitch to big league hitters can't be duplicated at AAA. I believe it'll pay dividends down the road.
