What is your top 10 with the draft now in the books?
waynebug replied to Sports Guy's topic in Minors
I believe Bleacher Report has Cowser #5 and Norby #10. Cowser signed for $ 1.2 million under slot. Wish we has drafted some high school pitchers to go overslot with. -
Go to milb.com florida complex league. Milb.com dominican summer league.

Wildcard !!!! Why don't you attempt some kind of prospect list for our 4 short season teams. 2 in the Florida Complex League. 2 in the Dominican Summer League. Just for fun. These guys have played so few games, you're going to have to take into account age, bonus size and past performance, etc.

I wish I could buy stock in Rom. He's a ground ball machine. Almost 3 ground outs per flyout. And still a strikeout an inning. Yeah, I wish he threw a little bit harder. Only Grayson Rodriguez will have a better career. In my opinion.

Your initial 2021 draft grade

Bleacher Report was giving us a C. I would swear I'm right. Saw it this morning. They have upgraded us to a C+. Tampa Bay still has a C. And Houston. Somebody else (?)gave us a B-. I think they looked at the first 2 picks without going in depth. Just Google mlb draft grades. -

It tells me they would/should have given a D or an F. But they didn't have the courage. They just "graded on a curve" I encountered this in post graduate school. The highest scores would get an A. The lowest scores would get a C. They wanted/needed your tuition money. They weren't about to flunk anybody out. -

I see others giving our draft a C. That was the lowest grade they gave out. Tampa Bay got a C also. -

For comparison with.Atlanta see their Farm Director comments at Talking Chop.com Their 1st 3 picks (all college) are expected to be mlb starting pitchers. Then 5 of their next 7 were college hitters. They saved enough to take 2 high school overslots. They still have have the money to do some overslot on day 3. They're VERY HAPPY with their draft and glad to discuss it. Not defensive about it at all !!! And next Jan 15 they're EXPECTED to sign a stud Venezuela shortstop for somewhere between $ 3-4 million dollars. And their bonus pool is $1 million less than Orioles. Being a Braves fan too I watch both organizations closely. -
And then there 46 more that ranked in their pre draft top 200. Almost all of these guys are high schoolers and I assume they have strong college commitments. You have to have a subscription to view the content. I don't know how much Tony-Oh is comfortable with posting outside content. I like the way Pittsburgh ran their draft. After taking Davis they immediately chose 3 prime overslot high schoolers. Then they filled in with college seniors among the rest of day 2. Orioles took underslots throughout day 2. And now they would appear to go overslot on day 3. The baseball community loves Pittsburgh's draft.

Most are high schoolers. Should have plenty of money left in the budget.

OK. we're in the 4th round. Last year he took an overshot, coby mayo here. -
As long as we play in this tiny bandbox stadium we won't attract any pitching and any pitching we develop will leave 1st chance. Only an extreme ground ball pitcher has a chance. The most dominant ground ball pitcher was available last year. Modzeliak ? from South Carolina. They took Westburg. I think. By the time they chose Haskin the pitcher was gone. Last time I looked he is lights out in High-A. Just saying he was a right handed Zach Brittton type. Exactly the type that can succeed here.

Rangel got $150,000. The Angel's only gave Pinto $10,000. He was old at the time, 18. The Dominican Summer League starts Monay July 12.
