  1. These last two drafts are going to set the Astros back badly. If they had just ponied up say 5M to Aiken, which he likely accepts, they still could have had one of Marshall or Nix. Instead they got greedy and now they lose 3 very good prospects and a years worth of prospect development.
  2. Of course there have been hitting busts as well, but historically hitters are significantly less risky than pitchers. College hitters in particular are your safest bet.
  3. They could have picked a position player like Alex Jackson, paid him 4.5 million and had a ton of money to throw at overslots. It's just not worth the risk to grab pitchers that early.
  4. Astros screwed up the #1 overall pick again this year. Brady Aiken has elbow ligament damage. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-heyman/24610130/elbow-ligament-issue-for-no-1-pick-aiken-delays-signing-by-astros You could not pay me to draft a pitcher in the first 10 picks of the 1st round unless they were on the Strasburg/Price level.
  5. The Astros have done a really good job with the rebuild, the only glaring mistake was taking Appel over Bryant and Gray last year. It's early on, but right now Appel is looking like an absolute disaster. A line up with Correa,Bryant,Springer,Singleton,Altuve and Castro would have enormous potential.
  6. Finishes the day 7IP 5H 1ER 1BB 11K. Season ERA 1.98 and WHIP 1.20
  7. I said it last week but Arrieta again with his best performance as a Cub. 7IP 2H 0ER 1BB 9K season ERA 2.09 1.26WHIP. 9.2k/9 and 2.9BB/9 so far this year.
  8. Arrieta had his best outing as a Cub yesterday. 6IP 3H 0ER 0BB 7K and was getting a lot of swing and miss on balls in the zone.
  9. Hammel continues to get it done. 5 2/3IP 4H 1ER 1BB 6K and an inning away from giving Tanaka his first loss in about a year and a half. 2.91ERA and .90WHIP on the season.
  10. Arrieta went 5.1IP 4H 0ER 2BB 7K in his first MLB start of the season. Still wish he'd challenge hitters more rather than try and paint corners.
  11. Another gem from Hammell. 7IP 3H 0ER 2BB 7K. His ERA for the season is now 2.02 and his WHIP is .69.
  12. Haha, as predicted the very next pitch he threw was a guy's first MLB HR.
  13. I'm sure this will end up jinxing it, but Hammel is absolutely killing it for my Cubs. 25.2IP 13H 19K 5BB 2.45ERA .70WHIP. That .70WHIP is the lowest in baseball.
