  1. Cable isn't dead, and its not going away anytime soon (I hope). Its more reliable, provides a better picture, and is easier to use than any streaming service out there. Cutting the cord may force the cable companies to do what the cell phone companies did and start charging by usage and discontinue unlimited home internet service. They are going to get their $150-200/month one way or another.
  2. RCN is dropping MASN in Washington D.C. I could switch over to Fios (the only other option in DC), but I'm not sure its worth the hassle this year. " Despite decreasing viewership, MASN (Mid-Atlantic Sports Network) is demanding forced carriage to those who chose not to subscribe to its programming. This leads to unfair increases to all customers not just those who watch and subscribe to MASN. We simply are unable to agree to the terms demanded by MASN and we will no longer carry MASN channel 372/687 (SD/HD) and MASN2 373/688 (SD/HD), effective July 1, 2019. With more options than ever to stream live sports (MLB.TV, FS1, FOX, ESPN and others) customers have choices. Our goal is to offer the best services at reasonable and fair pricing for ALL of our customers – we’re on your side. For more info about MASN, visit us online at rcn.com/masn."
  3. It seemed like a low budget production, can't they find a decent venue to hold the draft?
  4. I've been waiting for this draft day for over a year. We went with the consensus number one, so I'm happy. I haven't been this excited about the Orioles since the 2016 wild card game, almost three years ago.
  5. This is the first time since the late 90's that I have not attended a single game in April and May.
  6. If he indeed is the chosen one, I hope this movie is better than the last one I saw about a switch hitting catcher.
  7. WTOP had a nice article this morning outlining league wide attendance woes. https://wtop.com/sports-columns/2019/05/column-mlbs-attendance-woes-were-never-about-the-weather/

  9. Good points. I'm not paying a premium for a bobblehead unless its of an actual marketable player. I liked bobbleheads of baseball players. Not baseballs players dressed up as a comic book characters. There aren't any marketable players on the roster right now that haven't already been bobbleized. Before dynamic pricing you could goto a bobblehead game with a friend, sell one of the two bobbleheads on ebay, and cover the cost of the entire outing. Now you have to pay for the bobblehead on top of the cost of the ticket. No thanks.
  10. Prices are also noticeably higher this season for all games on secondary market places, namely Stubhb. I'm pretty sure the mlb teams sell directly through SH, sort of a sneaky way to raise ticket prices without raising them at the gate. Used to be able to easily get in the ballpark for under $10, doesn't appear to be the case this season. I heard they raised the concession prices back up, after a year or so of lowering them. Can anyone confirm this? I haven't been to a game this season.
  11. I also noticed on Stubhb that prices are much higher than last year (pretty sure teams sell tickets directly through SH). Cheapest seats right now are $44 with fees on SH, yet the Orioles are selling tickets as low as 15 and there appears to be thousands of seats available today. Upper deck tickets this year should be no more than 5 or 10 bucks.
  12. I never enjoyed listening to my home team announcer gushing about the Red Sox and/or the Yankees, so I watch the games on mute most of the time. Mel, John, and Joe were my favorites. Track, wall, see you later was ok too. I do like Dave Johnson and post game with Davis and Dempsey.

  14. Easily the pinnacle of my 2018 season. Opening day is now a distant second. Special thanks to the Orioles front office/management, and ownership team for getting this deal done today. I'll miss Manny and his talents, but let the rebuild begin. Lets go after the number one pick!!
  15. CD isn't done. I have a feeling he will breakout soon.

  20. While flipping back and forth Monday night between the O's and Ravens games I was curious when the last time that both teams won on the same day so I did a little research*. The two teams have played regular season games on the same day 27 times since the Ravens came to Baltimore in 1996. Both teams have won on the same day 10 times, and prior to Monday it had not been done since 2007. Oddly enough on Sept 30, 2001 the Ravens defeated the Broncos and the O's played to a 1-1 tie with the Yankees. Does any one recall this tie game? Here is a breakdown of the Wins on the same day: 9/13/98 9/26/99 9/24/00 10/1/00 9/14/03 9/26/04 10/2/05 9/17/06 9/16/07 9/13/10 *My research is not scientific and may be inaccurate or incomplete.
