  1. For you, I would say if Manny had never been an Oriole you would be irked by his behavior, especially if he was in pin stripes and playing the Orioles. You are an unabashedly extremely loyal O's fan. Your orange tinted glasses are very orange. That's most definitely a good thing.
  2. I was not nice to Manny in a post or two in this thread because of his behavior and, in my opinion, very dumb comments (I still like Manny, but he can be an A more frequently than he should). But he is getting it done for the Dodgers. The criticism/controversy may even make him play better.
  3. There are a 10,000 Machado dominated threads in our future.
  4. Toronto fans probably loved that he skipped Oriole fan fest.
  5. I'm willing to bet serious money that you would be irked if A-Rod, Ortiz, etc., did that to an Orioles first basemen.
  6. I agree a bit. I posted earlier that he will become the most hated ex-Oriole of all time if he goes to the Yankees and I think that's true, but I won't hate him...too much! Some attitude is not bad in competitive sports. And Manny was already a villain to Oakland and Toronto fans as well as some fans of other teams when he was an Oriole. They didn't see replay after replay of him and Schoop acting like happy school boys, they saw replays of him being a jerk or near jerk.
  7. If he signs with the Yankees, then he will become the most hated ex-Oriole in the history of Oriole fandom. The evidence was always there that he was a serious tool. Now he is a serious tool with questionable intelligence (he could be bright, but has lived in a Manny worship bubble long enough to develop functional stupidity) who is openly talking to the media horde. If he does and says these things in a Yankee uniform, then Mike Mussina and others are going to look like Oriole saints in comparison.
  8. They also kept multiple Rule 5 picks, kept Tillman on the roster, etc. It's like two different plans were in play and probably were to some extent.
  9. Maybe start a "When did you start regretting that you were an Oriole fan?" thread?
  10. I'm assuming he is working with a sports psychologist. If not, then...
  11. I wish I had not read that column. Insert crying emoji here.
  12. The SI article just makes it seem like he will be willing to take a buy out that leaves the Orioles with a significant chunk of salary savings. I would definitely play him early next year. This is cruel, but maybe Chris sucking just as bad in April and May of next year will ultimately financially benefit the Orioles. An outright retirement is probably not going to happen, but a 50% buyout may be doable. Anything approaching that kind of savings will be great for the Orioles.
  13. This has been stated a billion times, but I'll say it again anyway...The Orioles have nothing to lose by playing Davis at the start of next season. They are going to suck anyway, so what's a few more games. They are praying for a miracle. They are hoping beyond hope that Davis has the comeback season of all comeback seasons. Just getting zero WAR would be a major comeback. If Davis looks like this again next year, then I think he doesn't make it to the all star break. He will probably reach some sort of buyout agreement with the Orioles, although I could see some kind of phantom injury happening in spring training or very early in the season to prolong the outcome/miracle window. There's no reason for the O's to cut him loose until June or later next year.
  14. 2018 Contract Status: Pre-Arb Eligible Service Time (01/2018): 1.073 • Arb Eligible: 2020 • Free Agent: 2023 When he's 34 or so years old.
  15. Ryan Flaherty is Nick’s brother in law? I had no idea.
  16. That’s when he’s laughing at his own jokes.
  17. Dempsey is just making noise 99.999% of the time.
  18. I’m not a Wilkerson fan. But that looked like a ball that a good first baseman gets.
  19. Mancini didn’t exactly look gold glove on that throw from Wilkerson. I would give an assist on the error. Orioles Teamwork in action.
  20. This probably means I am a terrible person, but I really, really hope Davis sets the record.
  21. Fun factoid: Walker is a year younger than John Andreoli. I was going to write good for Walker for sticking with baseball for so long and noted his birthday.
  22. I agree. The Orioles have done about two million things over the years that I don't understand. Logical behavior is not their strength. p.s. Honestly, sometimes I think that ownership doesn't really care that much about the Orioles record. They seem ok with not squeezing the Orioles for every penny they can get out of the team, but beyond that it seems like Angelos arbitrarily vetoed things from time to time.
  23. They wanted to shed salary and someone was willing to take O'Day. No one was willing to take Trumbo. I think it's as simple as that. I don't understand their focus on cutting salary over prospects either, especially when they blow so much money on dumb moves on a regular basis.
