I found a discussion on the average speed of the fastball in the Ruth era that might be of interest.

Just got a notification that T-Mobile will have MLB.tv available as a perk again in 2024. It will be available closer to opening day, but I set it to send a push notification when you can sign up.

So the Braves and Dodgers didn't have a successful season?
I can't agree with the mindset that only one established good team can have a successful season each year.
No they didn't. Only one team truly has a successful season and that is the mindset winners should have. Doesn't mean they didn't have good seasons, but in the end all were unsuccessful.

With the Orioles, Rays, Braves, and Dodgers eliminated, we will have a World Series Champion that in no way represents the best baseball team in 2023
I know we can never go back to a single NL Champion playing a single AL champion in as 7 game series
but if we continue to add WC teams and short series, the World Series "champion" will become more and more irrelevant.
I think the O's winning 101 games and the AL East trumps this years WS pretend champion.
You must have purchased a lot of that AL East Division Champion garb.

World Series Champions.
Would you rather just upgrade slightly and buy a bunch of ALCS hats and shirts at the end of next year that can rot in your closet with the AL East Championship garb you spent money on?
It's time to have the that lofty goal of winning it all. Anything else now is status quo.

Playoffs don't count for any records/streaks as far as I know.
No but I would have rather seen them swept once or twice in the regular season than at the worst possible time. They should stop talking about it. It’s about as meaningful as all that AL East Division Championship swag people wasted their money on.
Time to move on to 2024.

83 ALCS Orioles lost Game 1 at home.
And the first game of the World Series at home.

I'm hoping Fuji gets left off the roster. I just keep see him playing the part of Ubaldo Jiminez in an important situation.

Saw this on a Ravens board. No way of substantiating it, but worrisome for the players. As some may know an off duty Howard County sheriff was shot and killed one mile from the stadium inside of Mother's Grille - 1 mile from the park and maybe 3 hours after the game ended or so.
"At the time of the shooting a number of Orioles players were around the corner at a bar on E Cross St celebrating the team clinching the AL East, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation. The players stayed inside as police cleared the scene on S Charles St."
Very troubling.
This is a link to the story of the altercation itself.

I wish they would do something wih the hesitation in his delivery. It may throw his balance off and give him an extra second to overthink. Maybe a more fluid delivery would help his control.

Hall, Fuji, Cano, and Jorge Lopez are options too.
I’m pretty sure Lopez is not available for the post season roster.

Has the term "strike out" been banned or something? "Punch outs" were always slang for a called strike 3.
That's all I got. Too deflated to look back at the last two games.

Cartoon bird forever. Accept no substitutes.

I love the wall. Players continuously get bigger, stronger and faster. I like that the HR's are harder to come by. Just the fact that Aaron Judge whined about it sold it for me.

The Orioles payroll is low enough to not have to worry about cost cutting. Now if you are talking about trades to improve the ballclub that’s another story.

Let's be honest: It's not a real high bar.
Buck was probably the second most important manager the franchise has had. That's deserving of an honor like this.
I have Paul Richards and Hank Bauer ahead of Buck.

This is all a distraction from John Angelos's drunken wife and her affair with Brad Brach.

I believe you can do whatever you want as long as you do it the same very time.
I think there was some sort of rule change and as long as he comes to a complete stop before the delivery it is allowed. I just disagree with it. That front foot needs to be planted once you've come to a set position.

That hopping Gausman does with runners on base really ought to be a balk.

Impossible to swap players into different eras for comparison. Today's players get paid so much more and have so much more information available at their disposal. More was learned about exercise, pitch counts and that sort of thing.
You can't even compare from Mussina's era to today where everyone seems to throw 90 mph plus.

If any number gets officially retired it should be Elrod Hendricks #44 (yes I know he wore #10 as a player).

Oh, I get it now. Filled in ball is a strike. Empty ball is a ball. Still prefer to see the zone.
I’ve never been a big fan of the strike box personally. Just more junk on the screen. Pop it up on a replay of a close call, sure.

My god they’re showing us this damn Braves game again LOL.
You would think they would at least put up some doppler radar and put the Nats on both stations.

If the O's decided to give up the farm for him (they won't) they'd lose the flexibility at the DH position. Might seem like nothing but with a loaded roster having the DH spot for AB's available more than once a week is no small issue.

Not that it matters but. Rip Sr wore #47 for the Orioles first while Belanger had 7.
