  1. If the O's decided to give up the farm for him (they won't) they'd lose the flexibility at the DH position.  Might seem like nothing but with a loaded roster having the DH spot for AB's available more than once a week is no small issue.

  2. I can’t stand alternate uniforms in general.   This one because it is a marketing scheme for Nike to make money, but even the well intentioned ones like pink hats for Mothers’ Day or anything else that looks stupid.  About the only time I’m ok with it are throwbacks or the league wide  #42 for Jackie Robinson.

  3. I took a light run yesterday with no issues.  My wife went with me who has asthma.  No problems.  If anything it felt good without the oppressive heat.  Not saying whether they should play or not play tonight, but the conditions don’t effect everyone even though they are less than ideal for sure.  The problem is there is no wind and the air is stagnant.

  4. All I saw last night was a broadcast from the splash zone with some game footage in between.

The broadcast was all about their reporter getting soaked and interviewing fans.  Several plays were cut to at the last second and way too much focus on the Apple TV reporter trying to talk to fans in between pitches.

  5. Anecdotal observation from Perry Hall, MD.  I could definitely smell smoke this morning at 8am and it was very hazy.  As of 1:30pm it is pretty nice out.  Typical day that I wouldn't be concerned over taking a run or a bike ride.

    1) You win this thread.

    2) Baltimore also gets a shout-out in “Transport Is Arranged,” if we want to go further back into the SM/Pavement catalogue.

    3) I’ve been around long enough to witness 0–21, 4–32, 30–3, 47–115, and the myriad other indignities heaped upon us over the past four decades, and I will say it plainly: “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” is easily the most embarrassing thing about being an Orioles fan.

    Come at me.

No I’d give most embarassing to the “bird bath” and how the MASN broadcast feels the need to cut to it or talk about it every two minutes.

This switch happened before social media and smart phones.  Not that technology hasn't played any role.

It's the helicopter parenting style that became more prevalent in the 90's and especially the 2000's.   Kids, especially younger ones, are no longer allowed to just run the neighborhood unsupervised.

I didn't become a parent until age 36.  Wow was I in for a shock.  Figured as my kid got older the Mrs. and I would have plenty of alone time as our daughter got older and hung out with her friends.

Nope, she was usually home and chatting with her friends on the cell phone or on the computer.  😅

As for playing outside sports wise, you don't see pick up games much of any sort.  All organized play -  that of course we have to pay for.

The 1980's had many of the same issues we have now. We always look back and say they were better times

We didn't have social media, cell phones and kids played outside.  Those would be the positives from looking back.

I was able to stream games on the web but not the xfinity app because you do have to be on the wifi of the account owner.

It was super annoying to connect a laptop to the tv, etc etc. and the video quality was not good so I just ended up subscribing to the DirectTV Stream. It worked well for me. I think it was $79 a month.

If I end up back down there this summer I will probably resubscribe. It was nice being able to use it on my Rokus.

My laptop is connected to my 75” TV  and while I can’t speak for MASN my MLB.TV stream picture is flawless. If you have T-Mobile MLBTV is free for subscribers.  Have to sign up before April 4th.

Nashville, Charlotte and Las Vegas are the usual suspects in the expansion/relocation conversation.  Austin, TX is bigger than each of them and should be in the conversation as well.

I'm all in favor of moving Oakland and TB and adding two more teams to go along with divisional realignment.  If anything, it seems a lot more organic and respectful of baseball history than something genuinely hairbrained like making the bases bigger.

Portland and Montreal are also possibilities.
