Well if you didn't pick up the reference then I don't know what to tell you. I guess, I'll just have to tell you. We were up 8-1 over the Royals in the 3rd, and by the 7th we were down 9-8 and they are every bit as pitiful an offense. Hate the other team, fine. Respect them too, they're 6-6 against us and blew us out last night.

Everyone in this thread needs to relax and enjoy the game a little. Yeesh.

Snell, Eduardo Rodriguez, and Verlander are all guys who could start game 1 credibly.

    Verlander isn’t coming here.

Whether or not Snell is available… is oddly still unknown. That one’s intriguing.

E-Rod… well, I know you’re higher on him than me. I think he’d be a perfectly adequate addition and would help a playoff rotation but would see minimal difference in starting him against another team’s ace, versus KB. 6 of one, half dozen of the other for me.

    Nice size font!

My point is still the same, for a team paying no one (with the 2nd lowest payroll in the sport with the best record in their league) salary structure just shouldn’t be any kind of serious concern, especially for such a short term deal.

But it is. And it will be. No matter how many times you say it shouldn’t be.

This is how the team is being run. Not a whole lot we can do about it.

As much as I really like the season that Bradish has had, please forgive me if I am not exactly excited about that possibility and shudder to think about what that means for our future in terms of the org’s willingness to improve the team regardless of how close we are to having a legit shot at making a deep run.

Even if they make an acquisition at this point, it’s unlikely that the new arm will be on a tier different than Bradish’s. Snell, maybe, is the only guy out there that is both better and presumably attainable, though it seems less and less likely every day that he’s going to get traded.

Another high-stakes series. It seems like it's been one after the other the past few weeks.

When you’re good, things matter more. And there isn’t a pushover in the division so they don’t get the added bonus of a couple extra games (though admittedly fewer than in year’s past) against a team that’s tanking.

    Why Bowie and not Norfolk?

Maybe they think Bowie’s current roster is better situated to support whatever kind of program they’ll probably put him on to try to get him right?

How do you mean, "Wells was intimidated by Judge"? He came right after him. The problem is that his fastball right now is nowhere near good enough to get by Judge. Stuff, not mental makeup, is the issue here. The O's walked Judge three times Friday night, which suggests being intimidated a lot more, but they won the game.

Walking Aaron Judge is just good baseball, as the Yankees lineup beyond him is wildly unimpressive.

Not to mention a 28 year old shortstop who's an automatic out and 2 rookies adjusting, one who is also an automatic out for the moment.

This team is really missing Cedric. Hicks was able to soften the blow for a while but even he's injured.

Hicks was toast even before he got hurt. .637 OPS in July. His magical ride has ended. Mullins, they very much need back.

My understanding is the Mets are picking up $35 million owed to Scherzer through the end of next season. If they'd do likewise in a Verlander deal it could make sense.

Verlander is still owed 15 or so million this year and 43 next. Even if the Mets offered an incredible 35, the Orioles would owe 20+ and a top 50 prospect.

    Not. Happening.

The Mets will likely pay at least half  depending on the prospect they get back.

    Ok. New one for you.

The Orioles will not be acquiring a player that’s due 20+ million in 2024.

Everyone needs to have some semblance of reality, here.

Negotiate with the Mets. Target Brooks Raley and see what it would take to acquire Verlander, and if he'd waive his no trade clause to reunite with Mike Elias on a 1st place team and wear an Orange Jersey again.

The Orioles are not acquiring a guy that’s due to make 40+ million next year. Full stop.
