Yes it was the WC game, but I always call it the Play-in anyway because, if it's baseball, it irks me to consider a single-game "series" as part of the post-season. I would rather they shortened the season (back to 154 games) and make the WC at least a 2-of-3 series. Or go back to the old WC set-up.
I understand. I’d rather not see a second place team in the playoffs. They clearly aren’t the best team in the league.

KC wd have never won the play-in game against Oakland that year without unleashing their running game in the 8th inning down 7-3 against Jon Lester and a catcher with a poor throw-out percentage (Derek Norris, 17% that year). Four stolen bases that inning (7 for the game!) were absolutely necessary to KC tying the score and knocking Lester out. Intelligent speed, stolen bases, wild pitches, walks, and sacrifice bunts stole the game from the A's.
A play-in game is to determine a regular season division champ. They played in the Wild Card game which is a post season game.

Next year we might have three guys with more than 20!
Or one with 60 (The Villain), one with 30 (The Entertainer), and another with 20 (A Gentry/Andreoli/Peterson/Steward/Diaz type or combo)!
I love that it is even a possibility.

At one point last night, we had three speedsters (The Villain, The Gentry, and Mario Andretti) in the lineup at the same time, and none of them were mere pinchrunners. The O's break-through inning was reminiscent of the havoc the Royals wreaked upon the A's in their famous come-from-behind play-in victory in 2014. Add Mullins in somehow and John GIbbons's head would have been spinning.
The Orioles will have three guys with 10 stolen bases this year!

Soccer is more fun to play than baseball.
Even if you are great at baseball and play shortstop most of the time you are just sitting or standing around.
In soccer you get punished for being faster than everyone else.

Dan Connolly think he will get a September call up. He needs to have a 40 man roster spot this offseason.
He seems like an obvious choice to me. I hope he continues to pitch well!

Kevin Gausman, is the greatest pitcher of all time.
I have seen days where he looked like he might be.

Anyone think it's mental with Schoop? New city, new team, new teammates, etc... Wasn't he the one that was surprised and wondered why the O's traded him?
He wasn’t sure why they traded him for another infielder the same age. He totally missed the part where the main piece of the trade was a pretty decent pitching prospect.

Maybe the problems aren't fully addressed before they reach Baltimore.
I think this is where it is valuable to spend time in AAA, but the team has to also help you identify and correct the problem

Not a bad move. It makes it seem like the U.S. kids are prisoners of the system.
That is the complaint that a lot of Americans have voiced.

They day that we can say that about us, will be the day that we know we’re actually committed to a rebuild.
There probably isn’t a direct relation, but have you seen the GCL team? It’s embarrassing. 13-32. Then look at the roster.

The Yankees have two GCL teams (notice the names)

We’re a joke. Signing VVM isn’t going to change that. Look at all the depth of intl players the Yankees have. Not including players signed this year. We’re 75+ intl prospects behind them when you compare system to system.
I too think it would be beneficial to have the maximum number of farm teams and spend money on getting some kids to fill them. The Orioles could have about 75 more minor leaguers than they do. The chances of finding nuggets increases that way.

Build a trap door under the batter’s box, and if the electronic monitor determines that a pitch was strike three, have it instantaneously open and drop the batter into the abyss. That’s far more entertaining than watching an umpire cry “strike three!”
That is what should happen on called strike three.

I thought the same thing. He was getting to velocity that he hadn’t been able to all year. Maybe there is some hope

I think Duquette is planning for 2021 and that is why Gausman was traded but not Bundy.

Well lets get him to Camden Yards. I'd really like to see them go with the best defensive team possible to finish the season. Can we please stop playing Nunez at 3B, no amount of work with Dickerson is going to make him a passable defender, Pedro Alvarez was better.
No, Pedro was not better!

0 for 5 and 1 for last 13. OPS reaches a new low of .454.
What is astonishing to me is that the power game has completely vanished along with the rest. Davis has gone a whole month without hitting a single home run. SLG is .227! To put that in perspective, 1988 Billy Ripken put up .258. This is just epic.
FWIW Jose Conseco thinks it’s in his head. He thinks he looks ok physically but has mentally given up.

If he refuses the assignment he gets his money and doesn't have to work.
But that might be better for the team. If his spot is taken by a league minimum guy they are only out the league minimum plus they gain a roster spot.

Sorry I missed this thread, I was printing my playoff tickets:)
If you take your smart phone to the game you don’t actually have to print them anymore.

Could the Orioles Move Out of Baltimore in 2024?

I thought San Fran blocked the move to San Jose.
