  1. The Orioles just played a strong series against the Angels and now, they're back to business as usual. Truly, a Jeckyl/Hyde team. I don't think it's a coincidence.
  2. I don't think so, either. It kinda happened once in hockey.
  3. Yeah, but he probably would have lost his job. He might anyway.
  4. To be fair to Hess, he's pitching on three days rest.
  5. Fair enough, perhaps you're right on that.
  6. It could also be the difference between a guy who plays for 15-20 years and a guy whose career is over at 30 due to head injuries or a huge dip in productiveness. I would put a player there who was just a good player, but not my best player.
  7. Whether or not Elias is here probably hinges on how well his plan works out. True, AR may not want to stay especially if he gets $$$ in his eyes and wants to hit free agency in which case I hope we don't make the same mistake we did with Machado. If he is that good and he doesn't stay, I don't think it will be because we didn't try hard enough to sign him early, though. 50/50.
  8. You think so? This FO would let him get away if he's that good?
  9. Agree there. Grace finished his career with 46.4 WAR and 38.6 oWAR. Clark finished his career with a 56.5 WAR and 55.6 oWAR. If Rutschman hits like Will Clark, I'd be very happy.. and then very sad when his productive years are cut short because of the position people insist he plays full time.
  10. Caleb tried that method, but it didn't work out the way he had hoped.
  11. What can I say? You're a mildly exciting Can of Corn. It's bound to happen at some point.
  12. I doubt that. The ball is being tipped at the last possible second and redirected. No one has reflexes that good.
  13. After seeing all the abuse Sisco and especially Severino have taken from balls to the head, you want to put our future back there? If Severino pans out to be a major league catcher, the wise thing to do is sign him and keep him as catcher so Rutschman can spend most of his time at a less hazardous position at first base and be a backup option instead of a full-time one. I don't want my best player routinely taking 95mph heaters to the head.
  14. Is that why he uses that name? To invoke mild excitement and to recognize his own significance? ?
  15. ..and he gets $7 million if he breaks the home run record, but I don't see him getting to 762.
  16. UFA in 2022. Pujols was a 13th round pick. Never knew that.
  17. I can see how some folks might think the Angels aren't trying to win.. though it's probably more just poor roster construction. Aside from those two, there's not much going on with this team.
  18. Wonder if he went on his own? Palmer is amazed that Pena is still pitching. Pena is in obvious discomfort.
  19. Probably, but what choice do they have? They don't have many available pitchers.
  20. ..because these defensive metrics are flawed and unreliable. We need better ones.
  21. ..and he's back. Pena is staying in the game. No idea how good he will be.
  22. ..and it looks like they are trying to repair it enough that he can continue.
  23. Had blood on his thumb it looked like. Burst blister perhaps.
