  1. I've no problem with that. However, I'm still not certain what problem (potentially) shaving 15 or 20 minutes off a game is going to solve? More people in the park? More eyeballs on the TV? More opportunities to run commercials? What problem is this solving for MLB?
  2. I've never considered baseball to be boring, particularly if one understands and appreciates the nuances of the game. Whether MLB changes the baseball year to year, or introduces rule changes (for whatever justification) is ultimately irrelevant to me as a fan. The big question to me is: What problem(s) (real or perceived) is MLB trying to solve by all of this tinkering? Is it to reduce player injuries? Is it control of player compensation? (IE: Using a live or dead ball for a given season affecting ERA or BA.) Is it improving in person attendance at games? Is it increasing TV revenue or advertising revenue? I'm not clear what problems all of the recent tinkering is trying to fix?
  3. Geek is no longer a perjorative. According to wiki "... the word typically connotes an expert or enthusiast obsessed with a hobby or intellectual pursuit." All Geeks should be proud of their geekiness!
  4. The BEST thing about this game is seeing our youngsters perform so well. Time to bring more up and give them some experience!
  5. Bradish set down 8 in a row, and should have been 9 if Aguilar turns his glove the right way. Chapman (who is red hot) comes to bat and didn’t sniff at any of the offspeed pitches. You certainly aren’t going to give him a fastball in the zone, so he walks…big deal. 2 down and you pull the guy who is rolling along for REED??? Clown show.
  6. In all fairness, I don’t think Chapman was going to see anything close.
  7. Why pull Bradish? Makes no sense and pisses off your starters when you show no confidence in them.
  8. I can’t determine whether we are watching a professional baseball game or a couple teenagers playing a video game. I must be too old.
  9. Pete Rose would be laughing his ass off watching all the gambling pandering going on with this game. Strikeout probability of each player after each pitch?? Wow.
  10. Back in the ‘60s and ‘70s the Dodgers used one for relievers every game.
  11. Never underestimate Kevin Brown’s ability to spew a meaningless statistic.
  12. Interesting thought exercise, but only an exercise. Nobody actually knows or can project the future performance of any of these pitchers based on this year’s performance. We will only know next spring who comes back in shape, ready to pitch, who is healthy and who worked on their craft during the winter. As we did this year, we will likely be surprised and disappointed.
  13. Looking back at his history, my expectation for Bradish is that he will work very hard in the off season to develop a new pitch or refine what he has. This kid is still growing and he will be stronger and likely have a tick higher velo next year.
  14. If Mountcastle would stop trying to hit a HR and just go for a single, that would be really good…
  15. It’s almost like management doesn’t care.
  16. 1. Aguilar is a big mistake. 2. Going to listen to the Red Sox feed to hear something good about the O’s since our announcers seem in awe of them.
  17. I’m going to turn on a movie and periodically check the status. Just don’t like how the O’s are playing at the moment. Seems almost like we were broken by Toronto.
