  1. I was bored an hour or two ago and jotted down the exact same lineup... great minds!
  2. The point isn't that Zimmerman is too old to play baseball, it's that he's as best a Triple-A starter and given his age that is unlikely to change. Watkins and Voth have shown more at the major league level in recent years. Neither one is very good, of course, but the Zimmerman bar is extremely low. And yes, I would rather roll the dice on D.L.
  3. I think Irvin, DL Hall, Watkins, and Voth would all be ahead of him. He's 28 and has already gotten his chances
  4. Ortiz joining the club, very cool! I wonder if not calling up an OF means that Hays is going to be in the lineup today or tomorrow
  5. The organization deserves a lot of credit for plucking Urias off the waiver wire and getting what they have gotten out of him
  6. Duran feels like the guy that will be a .200 hitter for the whole season and then transform into prime Jacoby Ellsbury against us
  7. Entering today's game Gunnar has a wRC+ of 110 per FGs. He has hit pretty well considering the extent to which he has struggled.
  8. I'd probably swap O'Hearn for Stowers and make Stowers the everyday vs RHP DH. Vavra is kind of an odd man out but at least he provides some defensive flexibility. Other than that I don't have any issues with the current construction of the roster.
  9. Time for another edition of Jim doing PBP for messy Grayson innings
  10. "alright, that was my half inning with the little leaguers, time to get back to the booth"
  11. They would probably be in the mix and not much more for this season, but the org can dip into its infield talent to mitigate the loss of Mateo. But the Dodgers trading Bobby for Mateo seems unrealistic to the point of it not being worth discussing (but boy would it be cool if it happened).
  12. Probably hurts against LHP but Westburg could help alleviate that
  13. Probably Urias-Henderson-Frazier infield with Westburg or Ortiz getting a call.
  14. If the reliever is really good or the prospect is a pitcher and (close to) ML-ready then I agree that they should consider it. But he is valuable enough in his current role that I wouldn't move him for moving him sake.
  15. He has too much positional versatility and team control for that. But it would depend on the caliber of prospect, of course.
  16. Mateo is also three weeks of good baseball removed from a .267 OBP and .646 OPS. I do buy his offensive improvements this year, but I don't know that the Dodgers would pay much more than a lottery ticket prospect for him at this point.
  17. The fact that Mateo's O-Swing percentage (percentage of time he swings at pitches outside the zone) is down from 36% last year to 25% this year gives me real hope for him as a hitter. And his contact is up, both on pitches he swings at in the zone and overall. fangraphs
