  1. Good start for Bradish, too bad we are going to waste it
  2. Seems like a fluky thing for this year; last year lefties had an .801 OPS against him vs .572 for righties, and for his career lefties have an .810 OPS vs .707 for righties.
  3. I agree, at least as far as Ortiz being the better defender and Gunnar's long-term home being at third. I don't know how much of a correlation there is between straight-line speed and defensive SS ability. But as the 26-man is currently constructed, he should be the starting SS. That may change if Ortiz were called up, but even then it is hard to fit every IF bat in the lineup any given night.
  4. Gunnar has been an above average defensive SS this year (at least according to UZR). He has also looked far more comfortable there than at 3B, even though he still profiles as a 3B long term. Unless Ortiz rejoins the club, I don't know why they would play anyone else there on an everyday basis.
  5. Yeah, I know I cited an example in my last message but usually it's guys that aren't cutting it a tackle that move to guard. Ereck Flowers, for example.
  6. Jeter had what, 3,400 hits? He would be a first ballot HOFer at any position, and from a baseball standpoint he should have moved to 3rd when A-Roid came to town. Redskins did that with Brandon Scherff, he was a tackle whom the Skins took 5th overall and turned into an All-Pro guard. But seriously, there is a difference between capable of playing SS and having the best possible alignment for the team placing you at SS. The team hypothetically putting him at 2B when he comes up doesn't negate his ability to play SS. Lots of good defenders play both positions (e.g., Tommy Edman, Andres Gimenez, Taylor Walls). If Ortiz or Henderson has established himself at SS when Holliday comes up, 2B should be on the table. And a lot is going to happen between now and the 2031 offseason when he will likely be a FA. Speculating on extending him and what maximizes the team's chances of doing that when he is 19 and in Bowie is very silly.
  7. I don't know that OF is that much of a need considering they already have 3 CF options in Hicks, Cowser, and McKenna.
  8. I made it to the 3-2 count to Freeman before I realized Devo was in the booth
  9. I mostly agree but it was a third-out-at-third situation
  10. He shouldn't be making that out at 3rd but I thought he was safe in real time
  11. This is just awful, Westburg needs to grab the out at first. Three weakly hit grounders that haven't resulted in outs
