  1. He's a lock. He's been a lock. Could retire today to follow his dream of being a meteorologist.
  2. I don't expect any player to be healthy for the next six years. My base assumption is that something is likely to come up to cause even position players to miss half a season out of every six. Blown knee, pulled lat, hamstring issues. Something always seems to come up.
  3. Durocher said "“The nice guys are all over there. In seventh place.” You're quoting a sportswriter that jazzed it up.
  4. I'm not sure Grayson doesn't have roughly equivalent trade value. Aside from being hurt that is.
  5. It's not semantics. To use far as a modifier greatly changes the meaning of the sentence. If hitters were far more successful you'd have to be a fool to pick a pitcher unless there was a significant gap in talent. We don't have evidence that has been the case. It's just SG being hyperbolic and if he isn't reigned in every now and then he starts to take over.
  6. And yet pitchers exist. It's not "far" more. You are just pissy that someone actually bothered to read your drivel and call you on it.
  7. No, you said hitters are far more of a sure thing. It's right up there, a few posts ago. Why do other teams ever draft pitchers? Are they stupid? Why doesn't every team just draft hitters and trade them for pitchers?
  8. That's an exaggeration. Tons of hitters also don't pan out. Even the ones viewed as sure things like Torkelson and Johnson struggle.
  9. My understanding is that saves are something that arbiters look at. If you reduce the number of saves an arbitration eligible pitcher accumulates it should be an advantage to the team. Also, if you are the only team acting in this fashion it isn't the "new normal".
  10. I suggested that ages ago to help mitigate arbitration raises for closers.
  11. Maybe for those posters that obsess about "winning" them.
  12. He's agreed to plead guilty, will be facing up to 33 years. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/shohei-ohtani-gambling-scandal-interpreter-ippei-mizuhara-to-plead-guilty-faces-up-to-33-years-in-prison/
