  1. Your comment was a bit obtuse. I’m not saying Hyde manages to win every game. On the contrary, I don’t think he does. Over time, it doesn’t matter, if the team is good enough. In a 162 game season, the following happens: good decisions fail, bad decisions succeed, and an excellent team will tend to overcome the former and maximize the latter. it is entirely possible, on a game by game basis and in hindsight, to pinpoint a given decision and say it lost or won the game, but a good team, especially an excellent team, will overcome that and succeed anyway. Royals Review constantly complained about Ned Yost’s managing,so much they coined a term for a stupid decision: “Yosted.” And the Royals were constantly being “Yosted” during games. But the ‘14-15 team was so good anyway they went to two WS and won one. Given a good enough team, bad decisions will be overcome. And we have a good team.
  2. Re: your first paragraph. Are you saying that Irvin himself signaled to Hyde that he was tired?
  3. Now now, ad hominem is not a winning debate strategy.
  4. He was definitely 5th in my mind, but as I mentioned in a spring training thread, the fifth starter worried me far less than the 6 7 and 8 starter. And we saw about one day later how valid that worry was, when Means and Bradish were announced as under the weather. The question now is whether this is a springtime flower that fades with the summer heat, or a stalwart that weathers every storm until the leaves finally fall in the closing days of Autumn . And, like Love, that wends its way through the fickle days of fate, we can only hope and pray and accept what comes. Yea, the Lord giveth and the Lord…wait.. am I a bit going overboard on this?
  5. I’ve commented on the hyperbole, so I don’t disagree with your comment, although Hyde has often done things that justify the word. But in this instance, I disagree with bringing in anyone at that time. At the very least let him get one more out. He’s not tired, and though he did groove a pitch, it was one pitch. Dont bring in someone unless you need to. If a guy has reached his pitch count, fine. I have definitely been annoyed when Hyde left his guy in past his pitch count limit, which he frequently does. In fact, when Lopez was a starter, he (almost) ALWAYS left him in too long. Oy. Anyway, Save your ammo. He should have yesterday, especially with the unknown quantity of Means taking the bump today.
  6. I wasn’t enraged at the decision to pull Irvin, but I did think it was poor management. He could’ve continued, but to your point I actually don’t think Hyde manages to win every game. we have talked often about the white flag lineups, and starting weak players for reasons that aren’t very good. Hyde never does anything on a whim, I don’t think, but his reasoning is often flimsy. A bunch of good players can compensate for a lot of poor decisions, But a lot of the second-guessing is entirely justified. Let me be clear that hyperbole is by definition, never justified, but in a sporting environment, it is certainly understandable.
  7. STRONG adjectives…that’s what we need! Don't need facts or logic, but STRONG adjectives, you bet! boy that made me laff. TY
  8. I don’t know what Hyde said about his reasoning but yes I didn’t see any reason to pull Irvin. And once he pulled him there was no reason to use so many relievers. Unless he was saving Suarez for long relief today, Suarez could have pitched the rest of the game.
  9. We don’t want. Not even if he’s free. My gosh, didn’t you watch him when he was here? last time I checked, so far this season he has a 1.6 whip, four blown saves against one save, and an additional blown save that the Marlins came back to win for him. and that’s in about 30 games. and you want to bring him back? Hard Pass. And you must write 500 times,” we don’t want Tanner Scott.”
  10. Scott was maddening when he was here and I was overjoyed when he left. Bringing him back on purpose is ridiculous. Call the angels on Ried Detmers.
  11. It’s too late to listen tonight, but by golly I’m gonna pay attention to them tomorrow.
  12. Not Chopin, I don’t think
  13. My wife is Taiwanese and has stories from China, of delayed trains, and employees who look surprised that you expected it to be on time in the first place. laff laff laff
  14. Hmmm Ohearn has a career -.7 bWAR. Doesn’t look like it to me.
  15. A hit works as well, but I would love to have seen Matteo steel home or something
