Actually, I don;t think that;s true. We only have two seasons to go by where he had two full seasons of 1st half and 2nd half and that's 2021 and 2022. In 2021 he hit better in the 2ndhalh, and last year he hit poorly in the 2nd half. I think it has more to do with his health at the time vs the time of year. Hays has been a productive player when he's healthy. Saying all that, Hays could be a guy who is going to get more expensive and with Cowser, they have an inhouse replacement who will be cheaper, so I could see him getting moved in the right deal. I still would like to see Mayo get some playing time in RF to see how he looks. He may end up too big to be out there and is going to be slow, but his arm certainly would be special out there.
  2. He was nice draft story during his good initial good year in Aberdeen (NY-Penn League). He was not going to stay at 3B, and just didn't have the speed or power to move to a corner outfield position. Add in his inability to stay healthy and his age, it just was time. He seems like a guy who could try and catch on with an independent league or another org that needs some depth, but he may just choose to head to his next stage of his life.
  3. Let's say he he needs a lot of work still. He's come off the bag at times when stretching for balls, struggles at times with infield pop ups, has dropped a throw, and needs to improve on scooping. He looks like a guy with very little experience at 1B. I think the fact he's getting very little time there tells me that for now, they prefer him in RF or DH. Santander certainly looks better at 1B despite his limited play there.
  4. I have hard time thinking of a closer I'd rather have on the mound than Bautista. I especially love that he's going to that fastball more after he and Rutschman got a little too in love with his split-finger pitch.
  5. His 38.6% pull% is 6th least among hitters with at least 100 PAs in the system. He's certainly an all-fields guy and many of his long home runs have been to center.

He's got good speed overall, but I don't think stealing bases will be a big part of his game at the major league league level.

Players make adjustments and clearly Cowser did. Obviously when you see as much platoon splits and swing and miss, it does become something to watch. Now, I still had Cowser as a top 10 prospect even though I dropped after last season (mostly because of others had good years), so I still thought he could become an everyday guy, and clearly after watching him this year, he's improved in both areas. Evaluators and analysts are not always going to get it right with players. If it was a perfect science it would be easy to do.
  8. I don't think it's hard to imagine that Kjerstad is very close to being major league ready. I will also say the more I've watched him this year the more I think his defense is solid average though he's not always graceful and his routes are not great. Speed wise I think he's kinda of sneeky fast. He's not going to steal many bases, that won't be part of his game, but he's not a base clogger for sure. His splits in every way suggest success at higher levels. He's hit pitchers older than him well. He's crushing lefties. Besides the fact that he doesn't take a lot of walks, he's really been about as impressive as a player can be this year. I keep looking at ways to move him up the prospect power rankings and the problem is the guys ahead of are doing similar things.
  9. I'll be honest, I haven't seen a lot of cheap Jordan Westburg pull home runs. Most of his home runs I've seen are 400 ft + bombs. When he connects, he connects. Now that left field wall will take away some doubles because the outfielders can play further back, but unless the wall gets in his head, I don't see it affecting his power numbers much.

That's fair in my mind. I agree with both or you that it's too early to "shovel dirt" on the Irvin deal, but it is an example of Elias trading from his prospect depth to get help at the major leagues. So far it has been a swing and a miss, but I'm hopeful Irvin will still be helpful to this team this year in either a 5th starter or long man role.
  11. 431 feet on that second homer. He's 18-years old. Crazy upside!
  12. No need for this, we have Frazier who can't even start a simple inning ending DP with his sub par defense.
  13. 86 pitches to get through 3 innings? And Brown wants to ay, "Beautiful cutter to end it". shut your mouth. He's like one of those knucklehead fans that would give Gibson a standing ovation after an outing like this, and not in a smart alleck way.
  14. Gibson is now acting like a rookie. Not even paying attention to the runners. no wonder this guy is a journeyman. Pitches like a turd and then loses his head.
  15. 79 pitches and he has two outs on the 3rd inning. Embarrassing effort. He should donate his check this week to charity.
  16. Here's Holt to Gibson, "Hey man, just checking on ya. I don't know if you could maybe stop sucking? I mean I get it, sometimes guys have tough nights, but all these fans waited all this time for the game to start and you're out here pitching like a GD AAA pitcher. So here's the deal. You ain't coming out to 100 pitches so if you wanna give up 15 runs, that's on you but we are not burning our pen because you are crapping your pants out here!"
  17. With all the GD day games and off days lately, all I wanted to do is have a nice evening to watch a ball game. Gibson, Frazier are not making me very happy for sure. Gibson needs get his Sh-t together. This is an absolute garbage death by a thousand cuts kind of Bs outing.
  18. It's just droning on. Who cares? I'm trying to watch a ballgame not a pregame show.
