I guess it's more about having Chris Davis on the roster than that play per se. Davis has not looked very good defensively this year outside of scooping. As for that play, it was a tough error but if Davis takes a little more time I think he can make a better throw even though the throw wasn't horrible and should have been handled by Severino.

Error and bad base running is not going to win you many extra innings. But, when you play Chris Davis and Dwight Smith Jr. you get what you get. If the #Orioles were interested in winning neither would be on the roster.

It's pretty clear he's still throwing the sinker. He threw more four-seamers (at least classified by statcast as them) by percentage in his outing yesterday, but it's low spin rate 4-seamer. He not a guy who should elevate very often unless out of the zone.

Yeah, that's who he has been in the minors as well. He really can throw some nice pitches (so can Evan Phillips) but it's the quality of strikes that tends to hurt him. He just leaves too many of his sinkers up in the zone where they become very, very hittable.
