  1. I didn't consider him a prospect really. Erlin was DFA'd so I claimed him but the Cubs trumped my claim with their own claim. I then sent a trade request and asked what they wanted. For some reason this guy popped up. I looked over his numbers and his one and half star potential and sent him on the way for a guy that may be able to eat some innings here and there.
  2. Actually his contract was 4 million, I was mistaken, but yes, they picked that up. It appears he's going to play everyday with them.
  3. https://www.orioleshangout.com/2020/04/27/kc-goes-into-extras-to-beat-orioles/ Lots of moves after the game including a signing of an old friend, a trade, and two DFAs.
  4. He was a part-timer batting just .222 (2-for-9) when they waived him. The Braves are 20-10 and in first place so they're doing well.
  5. I would have had to pick up his $4.5 million contract and i want to have room to bring up Diaz in a little bit.
  6. I'm considering promoting Yusniel Diaz but I'm going to give Sisco a chance at DHing some to see if he can get it going offensively. He's been a little better after a real slow start. Really the big thing is keeping Davis on the roster. I was hoping Mountcastle would be forcing his way to the big leagues but he has struggled outside of hitting a few long home runs. I really don't like the ratings on Mountcastle in the sim. His hit tool is too low.
  7. Some good questions and I'm not sure what they take into consideration to come up with their ratings. The ratings are usually pretty decent, but they have misses and not everything is perfect. I'm hoping with all the statcast information out there they will incorporate that into future ratings.
  8. I'll go out on a limb and say it won't be Means this year. Or any starter!
  9. If it's anyone else I would be shocked unless he goes into a huge regression. Guess Givens or even Castro or Harvey could potentially slip in as relievers. They have all been great.
  10. https://www.orioleshangout.com/2020/04/26/austin-hays-walkoff-homer/ Well this was exciting at least.
  11. https://www.orioleshangout.com/2020/04/25/orioles-fall-9th-straight/ Decent night by Adley Rutschman but all of the affiliates lost as well.
  12. In the way that "the Wrestler" was a great tragic movie, there's probably a great movie in his life as well. The fact that he was once homeless, found under a bridge, and eventually taken to a facility to live out his years with alcohol related dementia, is a sad fate, but he's such an interesting story.
  13. Nah, this is where you go too far. While OOTP is going to go off the information it has, so if the team looks bad, it's probably going to be bad (did anyone think the Orioles would be good this year after losing Villar, Mancini and trading Bundy?) it does have some variation involved. I've seen guys have great years with a half star (out of five) and guys with 4 and half stars struggle. At the end of the day, it does a pretty good job.
  14. I thought that too, but I've seen the Orioles offense do it a lot as well. I've seen it in previous editions as well. Not sure why batters hit so well with two outs.
  15. I wish I had that problem. I can't get to the 5th inning within the last week without being down by 6 or more runs. This is a sim and I'll admit that there are some strange ratings for some players so let's not fall on our sword as this is the be all end all. This is a game that thinks Dwight Smith Jr. is a good defensive left fielder so it's not perfect. I've also noticed when you play the games like I do batter by batter, batters seems to hit much better with two outs. The amount of no one on, two out rallys that end up into multiple run innings is pretty common, so common in fact that I actually assume that is my pitcher gets the first two guys out, that the third guy is getting a hit. Clearly that doesn't happen all the time, but it happens enough that I've noticed it over several versions of the game. The game seems to give a more realistic long term output when just simulated with no human interaction. I can't back that up with stats, but the extreme way the sim has played of late suggests it was trying to correct for us winning six games straight. Who knows? As for the minors, many players have ratings that are questionable including some players who have been given ratings at positions they've never played before and made to be their main position. Some random org guy may have a two and half star ceiling while a real prospect may have a half star potential, which makes no sense. So let's remember, while OOTP is the best out there, it's still flawwed when it comes to rating players, particularly minor league players where they've struggled in the past. Sure, I'm not having a lot of fun writing up 13-1 defeats every night, but I committed to doing this daily until baseball starts and will continue to do so.
  16. https://www.orioleshangout.com/2020/04/22/angels-sweep-inept-orioles-with-6-0-win/ It is what it is at this point, but it is fun looking up new ways to describe failure and losing. The minors have really been disappointing.
  17. Well that's certainly an opinion, but if you think the stadium is great, you have not seen what a lot of Double-A level stadiums look like now. If you think there is always a breeze you haven't sat behind homeplate on a summer Sunday afternoon. If you think it's easy to get to during a week, you don't come down rt 3 from the north between 5:30 and 7:00 and even worse, don't have to spend the 15 minutes going from the rt 50 overpass to the Stadium road entrance as you wait in the dual unsychronized lights multiple times each. Everyone likes what they like though. Saying that, I don't necessarily want to see Bowie lose their team, but I'd not prefer to see the Orioles lose an affiliate in Frederick even more.
  18. Dude, I play the whole game. It's even worse than just seeing a boxscore. I get to watch them implode and fail repeatedly at hitting the baseball batter by batter!
  19. OOTP 21 hates the Orioles and their entire organization. Game report
  20. Agreed, Frederick should not lose it's affiliated team. The Orioles also don't want to start losing that areas to the Nats.
  21. Norfolk is a great stadium and does pretty well overall. Sure it would be nicer to have the AAA team closer, but Norfolk deserves to keep an affiliated team. Heck, I'd like to see Aberdeen bumped to full season status.
  22. They should swap Frederick with Bowie. Make Frederick Double-A and let Bowie take their 1990 ballpark to an independent league. Can't even get to Bowie during the week because of traffic anyways!
  23. I think it's the extra year until free agency they would get was in play as well. I hope in the new CBA they get rid of lot of that stuff.
