  1. Mateo was about as safe as it gets on a steal where a throw was made.
  2. Got to give him credit for pulling off the Lord of the Rings quote on that one.
  3. I don't have the ability to go back and time him but that had to be 20 time to 1B.
  4. Mountcastle deserves a gold glove on picking alone!
  5. Holy crap, Urias looked like he was running in quicksand. How does a major league batter not beat that out?

    Matthew Etzel 2024

Well he's in LF once again so if it were going to be a 50/50 split, I would have expected him in CF tonight. Again, this kind of backs up my thoughts that they see him more in the corners with the ability to play CF if needed vs a centerfielder having to share the position with another CF.
  7. It was a bit of a toss up for me between Olson and Roberts until he shilled about the advertising patch. Then it was a no brainer to Olson.
  8. Wagner is not a guest announcer, he's considered one of the announces in rotation. https://www.mlb.com/orioles/team/broadcasters
  9. Now that Brown and Palmer were back doing games, it appears all of the Orioles guest announcers had their chances. I thought it would be interesting to see how each grades out among the fans. In this one though, all you need to do is vote for your favorite guest announcer.
  10. Most starting pitchers are lucky to pitch into the 6th inning nowadays. Kremer, who I like and will go back into the rotation once he's healthy, has only thrown 3 more innings than Suarez has over their last seven starts. Now maybe when it's all said and done Suarez's best role is in the pen, but I'm awfully happy with what he's been providing this year so far. I think we'll see him get into the 6th inning more now that they're letting him pitch towards 100 pitches finally.
  11. Thanks, thought Baker was out of options, but you're right, he has one left. For some reason I thought he has been DFA'd and made it through waivers. Makes even more sense that they can use him as n up and down guy now that he's refound his stuff. I agree though about him having dominant stretches at times, especially in 2022. If the fastball numbers are right and he's getting a lot of swing and misses, he could certainly be a decent piece again.
  12. In AAA, Stowers (91.9) had some of the best Adjusted EVs on the team. He's only behind Coby Mayo (who is 5th overall in all of AAA at 93.4) and Holliday (92 MPH) on the Tides. Holliday 69th in all of AAA and Stowers is 80th overall.
  13. He's an arm they can use for a bit and then DFA if they need to. I would imagine he's temporary barring him suddenly looking like the 2022 version of himself. Saying that, in his last outing he was up to 98 mph and was getting lots of WHIFF on the fastball. His average of 12 inch vertical break would make him about 15% better than the average major league fastball around his normal 95.7 MPH average. He has thrown some aaround 10 inches which would be an elite plus-plus pitch. It's about command for him. He's similar to Baumann in that he can flash you plus stuff, but can he be trusted to bring that to mound more times than not? He's earned his chance with the way he's been pitching of late and the quality of stuff on the fastball.
  14. Nah, you were right. I put myself in timeout last night after having a bad day.
  15. Yeah, no way this is "load management" IL stint. They said he felt soreness while playing catch. Let's just hoping it's more a "sore arm" stint than anything major. Coulombe is one of the few impact relievers that we have an his loss would be huge if it ends up being anything more than the 15 days. This could certainly prompt Elias to be more aggressive in trying to get an impact reliever in trade. We need another guy late who can get righties and lefties out and doesn't have to match up.
  16. In his last 9 appearances dating back to 5/18, he only allowed runs in one appearances (3 in an inning) and has held batters to a .161/.235/.290/.526 over that time.
  17. Not sure why McCann was not sitting 2-0 curveball there. That was middle middle.
  18. Mateo hitting the ball hard in his return.
  19. Hmm, how can I say this nicely..... ????? How about you not tell me what I can post on my forum and in my community? How about you not tell me what conversation I can start? How about not tell me I can't have an opinion on something? How about if you don't like it, you can leave the community? Nevermind, I decided not to be nice afterall.
  20. It's not a political take, it's just an uniformed take.
  21. It's called continuing the conversation. Last time I check, it's part of what I do as the owner of this place and when I start seeing things slow down or things getting redundant. That seems to be hard for some people to understand. BTW, I didn't start the jersey patch and that patch is an embarrassment to everyone involved.
  22. I'm not "complaining" about it. I quite simply asked the question and explained why it bothered me a bit. You can disagree, but acting all ups and arms over it like I'm crying over it is disrespectful and ridiculous. This has NOTHING to do with a fight to have Baltimore represented. That was solved years and years ago when Baltimore was put on the away jerseys. Hollander just starting doing this from what I can tell and only Arnold and Wagner do it on occasion from what I've heard.
  23. The only thing this thread has showed me is how unobservant a lot of people are. lol I've never heard a home broadcaster call their team by their city. Even when I used to watch the Braves and Cubs games as a kid on the super stations, they always referred to their teams by their team names and referred to the other teams as the city. It's just seems so weird to hear a home announcer call the team by the city name. Obviously it doesn't bother some others and most just don't pay close enough attention obviously and that's fine too. This has nothing to do with "pride" for the city or because Angelos would not allow Baltimore on the jersey's until the Nats came to DC. Like I said, I've never referred to the Orioles as "Baltimore" just like I don't call the Ravens "Baltimore". I call them by their team names because that's what fans do. Nobody has ever said to me, "Did you see the Baltimore game last night?" Notice tonight, I have yet to hear Palmer call the Orioles Baltimore nor Kevin Brown. It's just not done and has nothing to do with a lack of "pride" for the city.
  24. Well, not to poo poo you and your cheering club of upvotes (I swear you could say the exact same thing someone else says and you will 9,000 upvotes lol) but that's not my point at all. I asked the question whether hearing him call them "Baltimore" vs Orioles as a home broadcaster bothered anyone. All home broadcasters have ALWAYS called them the Orioles when referring to them on local broadcasts. It was how we always could tell between Orioles broadcasters and away/national broadcasters. The away uniform and the announcers referring to the Orioles as Baltimore are two TOTALLY different things. TOTALLY. It's not apples to oranges it's apples to fish. So, if you don't care what the local announcers call them, great, that's your opinion, but let's stay on subject.
