What's the downside to calling him up now?  I believe he has to spend 90 days on the ML roster, so the O's should start his time now.  He's on a hot streak and might continue it on the O's.  We know what Rickard is, basically a 4th OF.  It would be good to see what Santander can do.

If he meets his time requirement on the ML roster early next year can he be sent down, or does he have to stay on the roster all year?

If he could come up now that would be good.

I'm so angry at how he was treated by the team and I hope he gets revenge and this trade in hindsight looks as bad as the Arrietta trade.

I love this team but I can't help but feel they didn't know what they had here.

I don't blame the team. I blame Buck for not using Kim more.

First off, he seemed like a great guy.  He seemed to genuinely enjoy being in the majors and being an Oriole.

He had good at bats most of the time and had a skillset we don't have enough of.

From day 1, he got kind of a raw deal here, except when he got playing time due to the Rickard injury and - to me at least if not to the Os braintrust - really proved his worth.

I'll miss him and will be rooting for him in Philly.  I hope he does well and gets a nice contract somewhere in the off season.

I am glad he is getting another shot. I hope he is successful in Philly.

Yes, but we are not good enough to win anything right now. Our best starting pitcher--Bundy--is feeling the stress of throwing so many innings and no one else is that good. Instead, we should be looking to do what the Yanks did last year and cash in on our assets.

I don't hate the Yankees or  BoSox. Wish the O's organization was more like them.

Considering the headline, 5-8 weeks isn't so bad.    I hope he makes a full recovery and returns as the same awesome player he's been to this point in his career.

For the record, he's been worth 3.5 rWAR in less than 1/3 of a season.   What an amazing player.

Yes and I wish the O's had him on the team. He is an amazing player.

The Orioles really really needed that game.  Not only because of the losing streak but because of the pitching matchup (aka Bundy start), opponent, and home crowd.

I'd almost call it a must win, but of course we won't know that until much later.

I am just glad the O's won.

    That's all I got.

Don't hate them at all. The O's pitchers should have come through. They didnt. The O's up 11-4 and the pitching can't shut the door. That game was just one of those things that happens in baseball. No hate from me.

  8. Duquette is a narcissist and is more concerned with everyone thinking he's the smartest guy in the room than anything else. Period.

That is the goofiest thing I have ever read on this board.

  9. It really is getting harder and harder to defend them.

Our pitching staff is abysmal, we traded away Bob Gibson and we took our number 1 prospects best pitch away from him.

At one point do we start asking outselves some hard questions?

Bob Gibson? When did that happen?

  10. If we can get Bundy AND Harvey on track to contribute to the starting rotation next year, that would be huge. Gausman, Bundy and Harvey all healthy and in the starting rotation would be a dream come true - The real Cavalry?

That would be good if he could.

  11. Let's say in his three arb years he makes 2, 4, 8 million. That's $14M, plus the maybe $2M he'll earn his first three. So $16M going into free agency. Meaning he'll have to be worth 49-16 or $33M in free agency. That's maybe four or five wins. What percentage of players similar to Schoop are worth at least four wins in free agency? That's almost more art than science since you need to develop a list of comparables from a niche profile; young, powerful, strike-zone challenged middle infielders.

Here's a list: Nap Lajoie, Carlos Baerga, Juan Samuel, Robinson Cano, Bill Hall, Rougned Odor, Bret Boone, Schoop, Frank Catalanotto, Jorge Cantu, Alfonso Soriano. I figure most of them were more than worth a $33M deal in free agency.

Lajoie played long before free agency. So Drungo I am confused.

  12. Because Big Papi is having a "Ruthian" season in his 40's. It's kind of being shoved in our face at the moment.

I just don't like to accuse folks until there is proof. I thought Papi had been tested

and passed. All this could have come out at the beginning of the season. That's

    why I asked why now?
