  1. “No team has more of a gripe regarding missed calls on a season-long basis than the Baltimore Orioles. The O’s have seen 147 pitches called balls that should have been strikes, the biggest discrepancy of 2021. Data from TruMedia estimates these missed calls have led Baltimore to allow 21 more runs than expected in 2021." No wonder we aren't making the playoffs.
  2. I'm really not totally surprised - other than Lowther. I still think Akin can help in the bullpen. I didn't expect anything from Wells and Zimmerman.
  3. Sulser? I'm not a big fan of his, but he's had a very solid season - with a 71/23 K/W ratio in 57.2 innings, a 2.97 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. At 31, he could have several more solid seasons left. He gets paid something like the veteran minimum. I'm not excited about keeping him, but he's earned another year. We have much bigger issues than whether or not Sulser is on our roster at the end of next season.
  4. Why are they picking at their food when there's a gorgeous ham with pineapples on the table that she took the time and care to make for them? Kind of ungrateful for the family to bury her alive at the end. She didn't mean to be cruel... like the O's didn't mean to be bad.
  5. Agreed. And I guess Wells was too easy to target, while Greene had some good games recently.
  6. Now that's having a bad day. Actually that was entertaining - a lot of interesting details.
  7. Your timing is odd. We had 3 pitchers who did terribly today, but you chose Tate to pick on when he did nothing wrong.
  8. I guess you do have to be cruel to be kind... in the right measure.
  9. Uggg, they could have at least waited an inning to fall behind again.
  10. Here's footage of Davis at the plate. (1) Bugs Bunny's Slow Ball - YouTube
  11. Well, a 1 run O's lead at Fenway is safe, right?
  12. Yeah, big hit, but he's done that several times this season trying to get to 3rd. We could have had a huge inning.
  13. Yup, 5 ball walk. The first ball 4 was way out of the zone - just bizarre strike call.
  14. I'm not sure which is worse - his fastball or his curveball.
  15. Interesting thread. The trade for Evan Gattis actually looked like a disaster for Houston. Gattis was a great story in his battle to make the majors, but he was an awful defensive catcher, and Folty looked like he was going to be a TOR star - before he fell apart. Not to mention (so we won't) giving up the superbly named Rio Ruiz.
  16. Great posts by waynebug. I appreciate all that info. I agreed with the folks who thought Lacy would have been a smart pick for us, but 41 walks, 8 HBP's, 10 wild pitches in 52 innings... even with the great SO numbers, seems like he's got a longgg way to go - at 22.
  17. Wright's appealing the 3 game suspension - probably on the grounds that he stinks so badly. He's probably got a good case there.
  18. I liked the SRV and Hendrix songs. Good choices for our listeners' pleasure.
  19. I think that's basically what Hays said after he swung at a ball low and way inside and slammed his bat into the ground. .
  20. Very true, but sometimes throwing them and getting them called as such are 2 different things - especially with 350 lb middle aged umps.
  21. I would love to get to that situation.
  22. I understand your point - I just disagree with it for all the reasons given above.
  23. I hear ya, but I think that was an important situation - with 2 runners on and 1 out in a tie game. Granted, McKenna's certainly not a great hitter. We have Hayes in LF and Mullins in CF, so McKenna would probably come in in RF - where he doesn't have a great arm. I suppose they could move Hays to RF, but do you really want to move him around at the end of a game?
