  1. Pardons, I didn't realize how long ago section 118's post was from.
  2. How so - seeing as Castro has much better stuff, and Smith is coming off a minor league season with a 4.57 ERA and 1.56 WHIP at 24 years old? Even with Castro having a disappointing year at age 26, he had a 3.56 ERA and 1.317 WHIP with the Mets. That seems like a clear loss for the O's, imo.
  3. I guess the same question regarding Marcell Ozuna. He was cleared of felony charges but still has misdemeanor charges potentially pending. There may (or may not) be more to his story, as his wife was previously charged with domestic assault against him.
  4. Good explanation that I hadn't thought of. I think it's a little odd that it was posted - but no big deal. .
  5. That was from September 20th. Fair enough that you don't hate Sulser - you just think it'll be a disaster if he's still on the roster at the end of next season. And yes, Sulser is younger than Andriese.
  6. Hmmm, let me dig up our conversation about Sulser from a few days ago - pretty sure it was at the end of one of the gameday threads. I'll copy and paste it here for you.
  7. How does MLB's lux tax work? If LA trades him, does whatever they agree to pay of his salary count towards the lux tax limit?
  8. I'm confused. This guy was putrid with the Red Sox this season. And Philip, compare him to Sulser - who you seem to despise. Which one is easily better and younger?
  9. Syndergaard is no Stroman, but he could make a comeback and will obviously be much cheaper and therefore much more realistic - especially considering Stroman is a NYer, and the Mets undoubtedly want him back. Noah is scheduled to make his MLB comeback tonight - probably just an inning - from the UCL tear - so he's basically missed 2 years - but he did pitch 197 innings the year before. High risk but high reward. Just turned 29, but the hair may be past its prime.
  10. I've always been a huge Baez fan, so yeah, I'd love for the O's to get him. He's a spectacular defender - at SS or 2B - though he will make his share of errors. And while he typically has awful so/w numbers, he's a productive hitter with excellent power. He's also finishing off this season real well with a 1.067 OPS in September. As far as everyday players, he'd probably be #1 on my wish list.
  11. The O's are obviously not going to get Kris Bryant. Chris Taylor might be a good acquisition in the Melvin Mora mold - giving a lot of versatility. He's hit well for 5 straight years - switching mostly between, SS, 2B, and CF - making it a sure thing that he wouldn't block anyone. He even played CF in this year's All-Star game.
  12. And Don and Damon Buford. Don wasn't a big star, but 3 straight years of 99 runs was an eye-catching stat.
  13. I had almost forgotten about Hudson Haskin - surprised to see he had that many plate appearances. Plus he got 22 steals.
  14. Sure, but evidence is needed before making any of those accusations.
  15. What makes me skeptical about the accusation that relievers were over-used from warming up when they were not used is that during tv broadcasts, I'd often hear the commentators say such and such and so and so are not going to be available because they've pitched both of the last 2 days. Not saying I know one way or the other, but I'd need evidence before making that accusation.
  16. I'm no scout, but Jones really jumps out to me - such a nice short effortless swing that generates power, real good angular size for a CFer at that age, and no noticable holes. And again the genes - so many things similar to his father - who was ridiculously gifted.
  17. I wouldn't mind Harrison on a 1 year deal. He has a 109 OPS+ this season and looked good defensively at 3B in the games I watched. At his age, I wouldn't go more than 1 year.
  18. It's a feel-good thing - not sure I'd jump to any further conclusions.
  19. Or the O's aren't flat out lying when they reported that he's been rested because of a sore hamstring.
  20. Signing a long-term contract will pretty much guarantee Adley would spend almost all of his best years in Baltimore. I kinda doubt he wants to force himself into that position, and I doubt the O's would offer enough to change his mind. Also, I can't imagine he'd agree to a contract with the O's that has team options.
  21. Seeing him about a month ago, I'd guess that 195 is from a long time ago - a good 20 lbs ago.

    Drew Rom 2021

And Drew's actually a month younger than Grayson. Great to have 2 21 year old starters who could make their MLB debuts next season and become stalwarts in the rotation. Hall just turned 23 - he's the old man of the group. So, Ballards is a verb?
  23. Based on the innings pitched, I think your conclusion is wrong.
